Default Ruger LC9 announced

Just received an email from Ruger on the new LC9.

http://www****ger.com/products/lc9/models.html

The dimensions are almost identical to my Kahr CW9 except the Kahr is .1" shorter and 1.3 oz lighter.

fair ankle piece or an option if ya wear speedos.
Ill start with a 1911 since I always know where it is and how it rests as well as that it'll work.

While I do like SIG products (I have a SIG P220 Carry, and I have owned other models) they are pricey...but then, they are also generally high quality firearms. The MSRP on the P290 isn't listed, but I would imagine it will retail for at least $200 more than the Ruger.

I hope the P290 fares better than the P238.

A better comparison would be the Kahr PM9, which is fractionally smaller than the LC9 (MSRP $443), but costs about twice as much.

Does anyone know if it is DA/SA or DAO? Too bad it's not a further scaled down SR9c.

It is DAO, with a manual safety also. Supposed to ship the first of February. I'll be handling one as soon as possible. I was in the market for a SIG 290, but as someone said, they aren't available yet either, and will probably be another $150-$200 over the price of the American made Ruger.

I'll take at least one, maybe two. Heck, I can buy one for myself, and one for wifey for the price of the Rohrbaugh I was looking at, and come close to the same with Kahr's or SIG 290's as well.

I LOVE my SR9, and the wifey LOVES her LCP.

I got the teaser email and then the announcement. Don't know what I was hoping for, but this doesn't trip my trigger. Nothing wrong with it, but just doesn't work for me.

Maybe I'm spoiled by my 3913.

Here is a review from Jeff (I never tested a gun I didn't like) Quinn.

I do like the guy though and wish I had his job.

I kind of like it,but as it's not much smaller then the Glock 33 I just bought I don't see a use for it on my end.

I'm a "Doubting Thomas". Ruger has thrown out a number of things in recent years that looked good, but had to be repair or adjusted before they worked. Example, the "P" series of autos. I have two, P95 and P97 and both needed parts from Ruger before they were reliable.

I'm an old time Ruger fan and buyer, but I think the gilding is off the Lilly now. It seems like many of their recent products have just not been well thought out and engineered.

That scout rifle that they announced recently seems like a good idea...but why didn't they use M14 or FAL mags? It just doesn't make sense to use a proprietary mag on something like that.

The LCP was a dud in the beginning. I don't know if it works now, but I have no interest in it. The new little "plastic" revolver just seems to be over the top.

I'm going to have to see this thing work first.

Just my two cents worth.

Ah, remember the days of the Blackhawks, Security Six, 10/22, etc.?

Looks like a good belt gun. Hope the trigger is better than the LCP.

This is a pistol I would LOVE to own....once it's been on the market awhile, and any and all bugs are worked out.

I predict it will be a VERY successful seller for Ruger.

A bit over 17 oz. Compares favorably with snub .38 revolvers...

I see that GP-100's now have a 4.2-inch bbl., too. Probably to allow Canadian importation.

I owned the Kel Tec PF9. I had issues with the magazine constantly dropping out after the first shot. I called Kel Tec and they sent me a replacement magazine release. I did the repair myself. But the magazine still fell out occasionally while firing it. The next probable cause was my grip. I lost all confidence in this pistol after that. I love the Kel Tec PF9's size, weight and the fact is was a 9mm. But I couldn't shake the nagging doubt that it might fail again when I really needed it. I'll stick with my J-frame 442.

I don't know that much about these types of guns, but is it necessary to have a safety like that on a DAO pistol?

I like the thumb safety on any semi auto, you can always leave it turned off it you don't want it. I would probably own a Glock if it had a thumb safety.

What, and S&W has not had any problems with newly introduced products?

But I do have 10/22's (with metal trigger groups) Security and Speed Six's and a LCP which works great.

I agree on waiting for any new product. I didn't on the LCP and it got recalled but I got a extra magazine and a spiffy hat though.

I'm on a waiting list for the new LC9, I'll take one as soon as I can get it!

I guess I have more faith in RUGER than some of you, but I base my decision on personal experience with RUGER and their CUSTOMER SERVICE.

[I] for one am glad to see this pistol come on the market and give KelTec some competition. Hopefully a PF9 or P11 owner will decide to trade up to the Ruger. I've been looking for another used KelTec 9mm and they are hard to find. This may free a few up.
