Default Help: Weird French or Belgian Revolver

Yeah, I know, this ain't no Smith & Wesson. But a British friend of mine has an old revolver that has been in the family a while, perhaps of WWI vintage. Hammerless, about .32 caliber.

Here is a link to what the gun looks like (not the actual gun in question).

Adams Guns

What the heck is this thing?

Assuming good condition, any estimate of its worth?

Thanks!

From the picture it looks like it might be a knockoff of the German-made Pickert revolver, most of which were chambered for the .32ACP (which is semi-rimmed, so it works in revolvers).

Hard to be certain without seeing the particular gun but the similar one in the link is a common european pocket revolver from the late 1800's or early 1900's. Most are relatively inexpensive, not a real big collector demand for these. Calibers vary, many chamber the british .320 revolver round (similar to 32 short colt) some made after 1900 chamber 7.65 Browning.

Pieper..Spirlet..and probably a dozen other establishments made that style gun in Belgium.

Companys in Spain and other European countries made versions too..

Probably be nearly impossible to positively identify it without pics of the actual gun and it's proofs and markings.

You can google 'Belgium Gunmakers'..and find a page full of names and concerns that pumped out all sorts of arms..the page is something like Nouvelle or some-such..and is a wealth of info on European firearms.

That's one of the things I like about this forum, it seems like every day you see something that you never knew existed.
