We could never get the raccoons to feed our outside cats
When we lived in Memphis (Raccoon Capital of The Mid South) we had a BIG Tom Cat - Tig. Dogs would not walk on his side of the street
Tig ate outside and one evening a pretty good size coon was at Tig's bowl. The cat jumped on the coon's back and started clawing it's eyes. The coon never checked up munching away.
Tig thereafter gave that raccoon a wide berth - Smart cat.
One evening the poor old coon ran into a 38 special from my old Model 10
