Default WWI German fighting knife

A very lethal looking WWI and II German fighting knife. A very well crafted point and edge.
Thanks for looking,
Joe

Wow! I had a very similar one that my uncle took off a german solider in combat. I dont recall any marks on the blade though, and had always thought it was homemade. I lost it and a shoebox full of other knifes due to theft.

Unless you are certain that this could be from WW I, I'd say that the maker had seen both the British Fairbairn-Sykes commando dagger and our own M-3 Trench Knife.

If it is earlier, they were ahead of us in knife design!

Get a professional ID and estimate on it. I was at an auction yesterday of the estate of a gentleman who taught me to shoot competition in 1953, and hundreds more over 50 years as an instructor. He had been in Mil. Police stationed in Berlin just after WWII. He had lots of memorabilia. Three knives; a Luftwaffe dagger with sheath went for $1100, a Brown Shirt dagger went for $1000, and a Nazi marked bayonet went for $1000. These went to collectors. You never know, your knife may have real value.

I've got one. The snap on the sheath needs fixing though. Mine is WWI. I've had it a long time and don't remember where I got it. It's still packed in cosmoline.

That style fighting knife is seen in many nations by the time of WW I. I'd say F-S and our designers had seen them.
Look at our own M1918.

NICE example, english.

The Hugo Koller (Solingen) Co. made trench or fighting knives during WWI. Their name is on the blade + Imperial mark and another trade mark is the flower on the metal snap. Leather loop for belt wear during WWI and during WWII they used the boot clip. The same sheath is on the youth dagger.
They also made straight razors and kitchen knives.
