I recall a Monty Python sketch which involved a defendant being prosecuted for the "murder" of large numbers of German soldiers during WWII.

It's NOT Episode 27, in which the members of the court martial board put on pixie hats and sing a decidedly different version of "Anything Goes".

No, that's the one I didn't want.

That's the "Court Martial" sketch which follows "Trivializing the War".

There's another sketch where a guy is convicted of murdering a long list of British civilians, then apologizes and they want to let him go. It's not that one either.
