I started a thread about 22 pin guns a week or so ago and you guys talked me into getting a Ruger 22/45. I got the Model 10140, blued 5 1/2 in bull barrel. Wife says you guys are a bad influence

Now I guess I have to get some kind of red dot to put on it so I can be somewhat competitive. I used to shoot competition back in the day at a pretty high level but got out of the game right about the time these type sights starting coming out. I am a patridge iron sight old time shooter.

So tell me abut these red dots.l I guess I need a picatinny rail to put it on. I don't want to break the bank but what are some good choices?. Will I have a transition period getting used to it? Is it that much faster? I have to have 1X readers to see the front sight now. Will I be able to ditch those?
