Talking Historic Firearms Revelation On History Channel About Bonnie and Clyde

Ya'll ain't gonna believe this, but it may mean there are more collectible revolvers out there for us!

On the History Channel about Bonnie and Clyde in their "re-enactments" they show Clyde using a Colt Nickeled 4 inch Python! And another member of the gang using a M10 4 inch nickel heavy barrel! And another one using a Beretta M92 9mm!!

These guns are obviously older than we think!

Plus in a re-enactment of a shooting in Matewan, W.V. in 1902 they were using Taurus revolvers!!

I wonder what a Python with "Clyde" scratched on it would sell for????

Come on down here for the Bonnie and Clyde Trade Days and see what you can buy or sell one for. Plus you get some good food while here. But I know one of them died with a 1911 in their hand and never got a chance to fire it. The photos show and police report mentionit. I would love to own that one.

FWIW: Where the monument is placed for the shootout is NOT where the actual shooting ocurred. It was about a mile north of there. The monument was placed since there was a worry about traffic stopping in the road and there being a hill close to the actual site.

I don't know about the Matawan thing, but it is a little known fact that Clyde Barrow attempted to kidnap famed inventor Tesla, but he was in Europe at the time. So Clyde stole Tesla's prototype time machine and used it to travel to dallas, tx., 1980 where he aquired a Colt Python and a cassette player. True story. Tesla died before he could make a new one, a time machine I mean, and the one Clyde stole was sold to me. I traveled to the future but couldn't return because the Time Machine was stolen from me. It's believed Haliburton has it and dick Cheney traveled back in time to cause the 1906 S.F. earthquake to stop even more liberals from being born. And Bonnie Parker broke the damn cassette player.

I've got Clyde's model 66-1 that he used to rob Fidelity Investments with.
I'll try to get some pictures up when I get a chance.

I remember back in the mid 80's there was a set of snubnose/short barrel revolvers offered in a set called "Bonnie and Clyde" Clyde was a .38 Special and Bonnie was a .32 long. I can't remember if they were Smith's or something else like Charter Arms etc. I'll have to look around at who made them or somebody here may Know?

He surely was. I believe he carried and used a "chopped" version. Contrary to the movie depiction, Frank Hamer used a Remington rifle (Model 8?) with a custom magazine, and chambered in .35 Remington.

The Thompson was notoriously weak at vehicle penetration and stoppage.

About Bonnie & Clyde. The info about them has taken years to generate much B.S. It took Hollywood to make money on them. They were a couple of 2 bit punks in reality. If B.S was dollar bills everyone would be rich.

From what I have read Frank Hamer did have the Remington auto on the scene, but he reported he gave it to another lawman to use.

From what I have read about Bonnie and Clyde they were homicidal maniacs.

My Father said that in about 1936 they brought the "Bonnie and Cyde" car to San Antonio and put it up for display in front of the Alamo. My Dad was 10 at the time. I asked him if there was any blood on the car. He said he didn't remember that but he said he remembered it was full of bullet holes.

Who remembers the Merle Haggard song "Ballad of Bonnie and Clyde"?

clyde was not a big boy at ~5-7 and 125 pounds. he was allegedly sexually assaulted while in prison which caused a lot of his anger.

i saw that show today and had a good laugh at the beretta and the python. i have a shorty A5 (18 inches) and if i ever get to free america its getting a bit shorter. interesting how they were just gunned down in cold blood. even the worst murderers get due process. especially since its pretty much been determined their buddy methvin was the guy that started the shooting on the killing of those 2 motor cops , butit was his dad that cut teh deal with Hamer to set up B&C to be ambushed.

The Bonnie & Clyde death car is still being shown around the US. I have seen it several times. A few years ago some guy shot up a similar car and was charging people to see it claiming it was the original car.

As best I remember, he went to jail.

Bonnie and Clyde were far from two bit street thugs. Their pals included many well known criminals and their robberies were many. As far as I have been able to find, they never killed anyone. They are said to have but one killing they were accused of was the work of a copy cat crook.

I had a great uncle who stood in line for an hour to view Bonnie Parker's bullet riddled body. When he got up to it, he busted out laughing.

The actual death car is still being shown.

There is a Bonnie & Clyde museum in Gibsland, LA that has a fake car but not the original as it is in another state, NV I think. The museum is ran by the son of one of the lawmen present at the time of the shooting and is in the building where Bonnie & Clyde got their last meal.

So which is it, petty thieves who were falsely accused of murder or homicidal maniacs?

Well that's the problem. San Francisco's liberal regression took off in the 1930s. Cheney stopped the conservatives from being born.

You can see film of the actual death car in Ted Hinton's 8mm movie, which he started filming 5 minutes after the shooting, while the bodies were still in the car. Clyde's firearms are seen briefly. It was made into a newsreel at the time.

One fairly creatable story I've heard is that the main reason B&C were not given a chance to surrender was that one of the BAR men did not follow The Plan. His instruction were to open fire first and empty his magazine into the engine, disabling the car. Instead he fired directly into the drivers door.

If it were 1934, and I was in charge of "getting" Bonnie and Clyde, and knowing about the "arsenal" they had, and knowing that they would always fight it out, and knowing that they had already killed a number of folks...................

I'd a done exactly as was done.

I'm glad I live now and don't have to make those decisions.

BUT, I'd a kept the nickeled Python as a souvenir!!

in "Going Down Together", a recent book on B&C, and a good one, one of the local LEO's there admitted that he got a little excited and shot too soon. The car came to a stop, he was looking at the side of Clydes head just yards away and started firing with a Rem. Model 8. He hit the door frame and shot Clyde in the temple. The others started firing at the sound of that shot. Too lazy to check the book, but believe that Hamer's pal Manny Gault carried Hamer's Rem. Model 8, One guy had a BAR, one a Winchester 30-30, the afore mentioned Model 8, and Hamer a Colt Monitor (BAR). He also carried a Colt 1911 .38 Super for penetration in this one situation only and a Colt SAA.
As much as they had no choice but to shoot Bonnie, there is no evidence of her ever using a gun, let alone shoot anyone, except those photos of her holding pistols. This book cuts her no slack but points out Clyde crashing a car and Bonnie getting her leg soaked in battery acid. So for a very long time till they got turned into swiss cheese, Clyde had to carry her around everywhere. He was a punk killer who was really good with guns but gave his victims no chance, she was an accomplice who fatalistically tagged along knowing how it would all end.

Wyatt Burp,

I had read years ago ( and maybe now corrected info ) that when Bonnie and Clyde killed the Grapevine motorcycle cops that after they fell Bonnie walked out to one of them and shot him in the head with a shotgun (possibly her cutdown 20 gauge) and laughed out loud to Clyde as to how funny he looked when his head bounced.

This was reportedly told by the farmer who sat on his front proch and watched and heard it.

Do you have info to the contrary?

B&C proved several times that they would not submit to arrest without a fight. Knowing this and the weapons they would have been expected to be armed with I don’t blame Hamer and the others for not allowing B&C to fight it out.

A farmer said he witnessed the shooting, but his visability from his porch several hundred yards from the shooting of the two motorcycle cops was debatable.. According to this book, when the cops rode up Clyde said to Methvin, "Let's take them!" Meaning capture and kidnap them like he did before with other cops. Methvin misinterpreted this and got out and "took one" with his BAR then Clyde shot the other guy. This book never hesitates to honestly show the coldbloodedness of Clyde so the author wasn't cutting Clyde some slack in this instance. But it's just one book and even though I read this angle before which kept bonnie out of it, there's other views out there. Regardless, they were all worthless ***'s who killed a lot of LEO's, leaving their families sad and destitute in already tough times.
I think it was probably as described in this book but don't know where this interpretation came from unless Methvin told it later because he was granted immunity. His immunity was from Texas but another state nailed him for a different murder. Oklahoma, maybe. I can't remember.

Gee, if that is true then maybe that guy really did have Napolean Bonaparte's 1911 at that gunshow. Not.
