Default Another turn of the last century pistol for my collection

It pays to ask when looking at yard sales. I stumbled upon this one selling what looked like old antique furniture up in prescott Arizona and the stuff seemed to be going for cheap. So I asked if they had any old guns for sale. He thought about it for 5 seconds and then said yes I might. He brought out a 1917 savage pistol in 380 caliber and I didnt say anything other than yeah it sure looks old. Just by the style I said. I asked how much and he said 400 dollars, I asked to check it out and after seeing the condition I countered with 350 and again after 5 seconds he said we got a deal.. Turns out it was his great grandfathers pistol that was handed down four times. But felt his son was not and not ever going to be a responsable gun owner. Something about this new generation of kids being wild and crazy. Oh well. Here is a pic of what I got. I think I did pretty good. Only had one small scratch above right side grip near the rear which I touched up with caseys bluing.

Well bought. The finish looks good. They are good shooters too.

Actually the turn of the last century was 1999 or 2000, depending how you count. But a nice find.

IIRC, the .380 was about 10% of the production, 90% in .32...

Great find, and I second yard and garage sales. Don't get to go to many now but did get several bargains over the years when I did go.
