Default CDNN .327's

CDNN has Taurus (I know) .327 snubs on sale . Several different models. I'm tempted.

They're on sale for a reason. Turn around and come back towards the light.

Yeah...I know. I had to buy a new wash machine last week. The excitement from that will have to tide me over.

Yeah, ya gotta keep the box and all the paperwork. The collector value drops off sharply if you don't have the box and dox.

Funny, funny, funny. All use is funny. I'll bet since my OP 75,000 guys are ordering .327's from CDNN as we speak. Maybe only 74, 997 since we 3 have opted out. As we speak, I'm putting a belt on my vacuum cleaner. My appliances are not loyal.

A considerable ammount of CDNN's stuff is bought by Gunshops and Gunshow dealers. I see it a lot on sale here locally anyway. The light, the light, I see the light..again.

I knew you'd like this topic.
I have a bad feeling Taurus reamed their 731 to take a .327. I hope not.

Splurge on it....

Get the Rugers or if you hit the lottery - a Freedom.Arms.

Totally ignore the Naysayers... They are just plain numb minded..... no gentle way to say it. It is, what the .41 Mag once ws.

Ah yes, I see it now on page 5 of the CDNN catalog.

It comes in a variety of colors and barrel sizes. I see the Pink grip stainless 3" in your future. It's the most expensive at only $299.99 plus S/H.

The blued DAO is only $239!!!!

Yeah....The pinky would be my 1st choice, but the barrel is ported. I would like to have the DAO shorty. If I was Taurusually inclined.

Sorry I missed the ported part, no that would not go with your outfit.

Hey for $239 I might get the DAO. I can change the springs so you can actually pull the trigger.

It's built on the Taurus 85 frame. Assuming it's reliable. I'd take that DAO .327 over a .380 pocket gun any day.

Yes caliber wise but I know my 380 will fire (at least once) and its way smaller. My pocket 9mm will due the same.

I am calling local shop now to see what he can get me one for. Might be fun to play with and complain about.

If it is as good as my 605 and has an extra hole in the cylinder then it should be pretty good actually. I would be more tempted if I weren't trying to only buy American from now on.

I could google it but I'm not. Isn't the 327 capable of shooting about all the other 32 rounds?

Yes. 32 H&R, .32 S&W Long (Colt NP), and .32 short.

O.K. Then by popular demand, I'll tell you. I went to a local shop. I was looking for a Bersa .380. This place uses CDNN as a supplier sometimes. I start looking at .380's. The counter guy comes over and I ask him "do by chance have a .327 Taurus like I've seen on CDNN because I know you people buy stuff from them." He comes back to me holding the exact gun I was looking for. Small frame 6 shot, .327 factory bobbed hammer. $299. CDNN wants $238 for them but I it will cost $40 to get it to me anyway. I buy the gun and take it home. I turn on the TV and sit down to watch the news and dry fire the gun. Almost immediately the trigger won't reset sometimes locking the gun up. Not good. So I lube it a bit and the trigger now resets %100. Butt, I notice at full lockup it's loose. Cyl. wobble way too much for a new revolver. I start looking at it and the hole in the breechface where the cyl locating pin fits in is elongated. I'd guess .0015" up and down. This is a steel frame gun. I took it back along with $60 worth of .32 H&R mag. ammo I bought with the gun. I got a full refund on the gun and ammo, and bought a Bersa.

The End

Jim

No it's not the end, only the beginning. Kinda like jumping out of the firing pan into the fire

I wish you luck with the Bersa.

I've had 4 Interarms PPK's that would not pass muster. I had a steel frame Bersa when they first came out and it worked like a charm. I shot this alloy frame today (50 rds) without an issue. That's more rds without a jam than I got with all 4 PPK's combined.

I hope you got a good one. Is it the 380? I had many problems with one a few years back. I did like the design and ergonomics of the gun, it was the CC version. Hope the e clips holding the trigger bar do not fall off.

It's a Thunder Dee LUX .380. I removed the mag safety today. Saw that clip. I used to repair mecanical cash registers with 10,000 moving parts. I've seen clips like that. If it falls off I'll figure something. You're soooo negative.

If I stick this Taurus in a holster.....it's disguised as a S&W If I take the grips off the value drops 90%.

I have 4 Tauri .38's and they are "OK", I jokingly "bash" people who buy Taurus, but only because I got sucked in 4 times by their cheap price and my "need" at the time for another beater to play with.

I am not immune, the guns look good, they are dirt cheap used but mechanically they are a dice roll. My two 82's have hand-ratchet fit issues, they are fitted too tight and the chambers are slightly off center when the gun fires. My 80 is a good one, and the older 84 in the pic is a decent range blaster.

As far as .327's, used Ruger SP101's in this caliber turn up at gun shows for $350-400 because quite a few people bought them when the .327 first came out, and then expensive factory ammo and spotty supply caused them to sell. I almost bought one several times, but for the reasons I listed, I held off. I can't reload right now due to my living situation, but the next used .327 SP101 I see, I'm picking it up.

No not negative, realist. I spent more money on my Bersa sending it back to Colorado for for repair than the gun cost. I wished you good luck and hope that you got a good one.

Mine jammed, had failure to feed, failure to eject, stove piped, e clip fell off (several times) it's under the grip. The grip screws came loose every time I shot it, but besides that it was a gem. Just the facts. So sure I am a bit jaded.

If this was not a family show, I would tell you how I really feel.

Don't heap too much praise on the Rugers. I had both a 4.6" BHG SSM and a 4" SP101 in .32 H&RM. The SP101 was the worst new revolver I have ever bought. Burrs, poorly reamed holes, etc - it wouldn't make it through a cylinderfull without jamming. TLC fixed it. The second worst Ruger was that SSM. TLC fixed it, too - a typical new Ruger SA - delivered as a 'work in progress'. The worst attribute - which they both shared - was oversized chambers, which allowed brass, .32 S&WL & .32 H&RM alike, to bulge to .337+", while sizing dies and commercial ammo were .334". The brass got overworked in a couple of loads - even wimpy ones - and would split. .38 lead is easier/cheaper to find - and, wimpy loads included, will drop falling steel plates, which only the hotter .32's would do. I sold everything .32 - and rejoiced in .38's - again!

Stainz

PS How could I forget - the .32 SP101 has the world's cheesiest adjustable rear sight - windage adjustment only, too!

Stainz: The early .327 SP101's had the problem you describe. I bought one new. Split cases, etc.. There was a recall as it became a known problem. About that point in time was the ammo shortage. .32 h&r became non existent. I'm only seeing it available now (after 2+ years) in that GS I was just in. I traded off that Ruger after it was fixed.

Well, uh I admit the CDNN add caught my eye, the 3 inch version is interesting but I held off. Well I will even confess to having a Taurus in the past. It was a model 905 in 9mm and shot fine. I traded it for a S&W 332. Now for the rest of the story. We were at the deer lease and my friend brings his taurus 85 out, it is pretty new and the cylinder kept getting hung up!! I checked the ejector rod to make sure it was tight, did not find anything that appeared to bind the cylinder but no luck. We shot 5 boxes of ammo thru the 332 without a hitch. He tried to buy it on the spot!!

My Bersa Thunder .380 has never been anything but good to me. It eats any HP I have tried and have eaten enough ammo to make be a believer.

IMO the Taurus isn't worth the dice roll. S&W makes a nice looking little j-frame .327, and Ruger seems to have gotten the SP101's worked out. As much of a Ruger fan as I am, I never buy their new models until they have been out for a while, like the SR9's. Ruger also has a 7-shot .327 GP100 that looks promising.

Good points are the Taurus guns have a lifetime warranty, but I have heard lots of dealers say they have had to send guns back 3 or 4 times before they were fixed and it took forever. I would send my two 82's in for work but they are from 1997 and Taurus won't work on them. If you get a good one, they're a good deal. One of my "range freinds" has a 4" 66 and he loves it. Another guy bought the .22 Magnum wheelgun and it came with a ring in the bore.

2 of my local dealers have stopped being stocking Taurus dealers, they say too many of them come back.

My opinion is if you plan to shoot the gun any amount other than capping off a box to make sure it works, and carrying it, don't get the Taurus. Worst case scenario, if you use it to stop an attacker you won't be giving the police a good gun when they take it into evidence.

Friends don't let friends buy Taurus. I have heard their 1911 is not too bad.

I rolled the dice on a Taurus 327 from Bud's. With less than 100 rds through it the yoke screw assembly vibrated out and the cylinder fell off. I sent to Taurus for a screw assembly and put it in. The cylinder still spins freely and I have now shipped it back to Taurus at my expense.
Don't roll the dice!
I bought an SP101 in 327 fed mag also and it is a fine gun. I had Wolff springs installed to closer mimic the smooth trigger pull of a Smith.

As I was often reminded when I worked in Central America, South and Central American countries ARE in America, just not the United States of America. So technically a Taurus is an American made firearm.

Well roll the dice and buy the Smith and Wesson. A bit more money but you know the saying.

Finally, My new 327 Federal Magnum

If you have some moola... the 632 Pro started shipping in early 9/2011, after being advertised/promised since 2/2010.

Two great extras - the 60 Pro grips, $43 from S&W Accessories as SKU #411740000, and Speer 115gr GDJHP .327 Federal Magnum ammo - the HKS #32-J speedloader works great, too. It hits coincident POA/POI with that ammo at 7-12 yd, using a 'combat' sighting (front nightsight orb centered on target). The grips help the shooting process - for me. Decent trigger, too - considering that it must pop small rifle primers! Of course, SA shooting is a bit problematic...

Those speedloaders - and 800+ rounds of my mild homebrews in .32 S&WL in 96gr LRNFP - were left over after selling my 4" SP101 and 4.6" BHG SSM, both in .32 H&RM, 3.5 yr ago. The Rugers were horrid - oversized chambers (Resulted in very short brass life - 1-2 reloads before splitting!) remaining after all of the numerous QC issues were remedied with lots of TLC. I can only say this: If Rugers are this poor, I never want to experience a Taurus! I have fewer revolvers - but they are all S&W.
