Default Savage Muzzle Break

Caveat: It is not my intention to start a debate on the relative pros and cons of muzzle brakes. Just looking for opinions on the rifle in question. Savage sells a series of rifles with an adjustable twist on/off muzzle brake. Anybody have one? How do you like the rifle and/or brake. Does it work as advertised? Specifically, I'm interested in the 116 Bear Hunter in .338. My Savage Model 24 in .223 over 12 ga. is, to my surprise, the most accurate long gun I own. Glad I didn't listen to the naysayers.

I can't answer your question but I have a Savage M24 B-DL 22 Mag over 20 gauge, they are neat rifles!

I am looking at possibly getting a 223 heavy barrel Bolt action, either the Savage or CZ.

I have a savage stryker with brake in 308. It makes a noticable difference in recoil and noise but I cant comment on accuracy. I only have 100 yards to target and it is quite accurate at that range. I do get 2600 fps out of a 14 inch barrel tho.

If it works along the lines of the Browning BOSS system it can be effective, working to fine tine the frequency of the vibrations in your barrel by changing the barrel length slightly....more properly said as changing the length of your barrel to match those frequencies. I would say it is more for the art of paper punching than hunting, but that's up to you...
