Default Winchester Model 94 "NRA Centenial Musket", anyone have and shoot one?

I have seen a few Winchester "NRA Centennial" Muskets before, a commemorative Model 94 Winchester made in 1971 with a straight stock, steel curved buttplate, long range vernier sights, 30/30 caliber, 26" barrel and wood all the way to the muzzle. Passed on one at a gun shop a couple of years ago for $450, wished I had picked that one up....

I was at my Local Gun Shop today, and "Lo and Behold" what had they taken in trade, a Model 94 Centennial Musket! Priced at $499, 20% down put it on layaway for me. Like most commemoratives, it appears unfired, even had the box with it. I'll probably pick it up within a month or so.

I want it to be able to shoot cast lead bullets more effectively, to date I have only been able to get a good 50 yard cast lead 30/30 round developed, with that long range venier sight, I should be able to shoot cast lead out to 200 yards or more. The commemorative value means nothing to me, but that long barrel, musket wood and long range sight has a lot of value for me!

Anyone out there have and shoot a NRA Musket?

I don't have one of those, but I do have a TR '94 rifle with the 26" barrel. It shoots rather well, and I only wish I could put a tang sight on it without damaging the signature of TR on the tang. I'm stuck with a receiver sight.

Aside frome the "engraving" on the frame, I thinks its one of the coolest variations of the post war 94's. I was looking at them myself a while back and they were all in the price range yours is. I love the militaryesque look of them. I would never do this, but imaging getting one of those and a standard early 70's 94 carbine, then switching the parts around. Then you'd have a 94 musket without the NRA marks and still have a carbine. The medalion in the stock would still be there, though.
You got a good one there. I like the 66 Centennial, too. The one with the gold reciever.

I'd love to have one - they're the only 94 Commemorative that appeals to me.

There's one for sale at Cabelas for a lot more than what you're paying for yours.

i have and shoot several different winchester 94 comm. guns. i also shoot mostly lead bullets with them and they shoot fine. have some 30-30's, a 32-40, and a 38-55. accurate 5744 and sr4759 have worked the best for me for lead bullet powders.

Default one of you happen to know the front sight height?

hi all,

I recently inherited a 1971 Winchester NRA Centennial Musket - but it's been missing it's front site for a very, very long time.

Anyone able to accurately measure the height of the plain blade front sight dovetailed into the barrel? the supplier I have contacted wasn't able to find part numbers or heights for the sights dovetailed into the barrel such as this. Any known part numbers would be great to know as well.

thanks!
