Beretta 92fs or M9
I want to purchase a Beretta and I am torn up between getting the one made in Italy or the US made one. Is the quality the same? I know for a fact the older Sigs made in Germany were much better build than the ones made here now.
Thanks for any input you might give me.

I've handled both and the Italian ones sometimes have a little smoother finish. But I've read that the US ones may have more consistent workmanship.
Mine is US-made and I like it very much.
On the Beretta board, this gets asked quite a bit, and the consensus seems to be that there isn't much difference.
Keep in mind that the older German SIG's had slide rails that cracked until they were made thicker and the slides often rusted.

I have a few. The only thing I notice on occassion is the roll marks on the Italian made seem a little crisper than the US and even this is not each and every gun. Other than that, same gun. The 92FS is the only semi-auto I have not been able to intentionally jam, including feeding empty cases.
The things just go bang every time you pull the trigger. If you're looking for target match accuracy, this isn't it. But they'll shoot 2" - 3" groups at 10 -15 yds all day long, even a little better if you do your part.
As TS referred to, check out the Beretta forum.

I go on the Beretta forum every now and then. There was a thread on there about the difficulty of finding the American made 92FS because of the recent DA contract. Not sure if that is true or not but I have noticed a lot of Italian made showing up in LGS lately. I have never been to the Italian factory but did go for the armorers course in at the American one in Accoceek. What I can say is that the 92FS and M9 go through the same process, just that the military contracted firearms were in a seperate section but still the same process. They have held up pretty well since the military adopted them considering the abuse that they go through. Just me.

My 92FS is American made and I am well satisfied with it. It sees duty as my carry sidearm at the range. It fits my hands well and I am reasonably profecient with it.
I also can convert it to .40S&W using a 96FS slide, barrel and magazine. It functions well in both calibers.
