Got a full-length view of the gun? I haven't seen a M-31 in ages!

Back in the day, I used to shoot my Winchester Model 12 Trap at the local clubs and some adjacent state shoots. I once had the misfortune of breaking a firing pin on the line, next to Vic Reinders, arguably the best trapshooter Wisconsin ever produced. He gave me a lengthy lecture about how worthless the M12's were, whereas his 31TC just kept going and going. His had about ten percent finish, and two sections of the rib were completely gone! I guess he knew what he was talking about; I bought a 31TC and used it a little bit. It was so smooth, that it was disconcerting after using a M12; it seemed as though it could not possibly be locking up, there were no "chunkety-clunk" noises like I was used to.

Nice wood. A big part of the allure of a fine firearm is the craftsmanship and beauty of wood and steel.

Re the M-12 vs. M-31 argument, the late Don Zutz, who certainly knew shotguns, told me that he also preferred the Remington.
He was an excellent gun writer who produced a couple of fine shotgun books, BTW.
I do want to see a full length photo of this one, even if it is a trap gun, not a hunting version.

Nice looking 31TC.
I have never seen anyone shooting a Remington 31 for Trap, either Registered or for casual practice. I only know of one shooter who does that, and he's from the midwest somewhere and I have never met him.
I always liked the 31 as a police officer and picked one first, then took an 870 if the 31s were being used by someone else. The Winchester 1200s just sat there, pretty much despised by everyone.
I never tried to buy a 31TC for trap as I am one of those shooters who uses a release trigger and have heard that it is impossible, or nearly so, to covert the 31 to release.
Used 870, 1100/1187 and Winchester Model 12 release triggers are plentiful, and it doesn't cost much to convert any of their pull triggers to release if one can't find a used one that particular day.
Winchester Model 12s are still seen on the Trap fields and, of course, 870s are seen as well. Prices on both are pretty reasonable.
But 31s, which I really like, are just not there. You have a very nice gun and I hope you are shooting trap with it.

I sold it because it is not lefty friendly and now use a 1927 Ithaca 4E Knick
It certainly was a great trap gun.
