Default First Look! Custom Commander

Had one in 9mm, added another in .45.

A friend on the Colt Forum did the work...I couldn't be happier (will shoot it for the first time tomorrow)

Before

After

9mm back
.45 front

I hope I never get too old to get excited about a new Colt.

Looks great! I like the sinister look. I see a big correlation with 1911's and Harley's. Both have timeless good looks and now they both are being treated to the blacked out look. Are those grips from VZ?

Very nice. I really need to add a 1911 (or ten) to my collection at some point.

Is that a gold bead sight on the .45?

Thanks

Finish is Black-T, .45 sights are Trijicon white dot with tritium inserts, Novak rear in the GI dovetail.

All the stainless parts are just over-the-counter Ed Brown.

I'm a freak. I thought it looked just as good before!!!

Not that it doesn't look good now... I just like any and all Colts.

(Even the All American 2000...)

I hope I never get too old to get excited about a new Colt.

came out great but I wouldnt be surprised if a few of the colt guys are a little broken up that you took a polished blued one and parkerized and modified it like that

however being a fan of bad *** looking guns like an all black detonics combat master I think it looks great, although I would go for a standard parkerized barrel bushing and a different style trigger similar to the one they used on the series 80 NM.

With respect, as I view the op, no pictures or links are visible. Any ideas what needs to be done?

hmmmmm....not sure what I think. I probably would have left the .45 as it was. The 9mm one needed some kind of help.

It was nice to see the flip side and not see an ambi safety hanging there. I do know that

Indeed, its nice to see a custom that doesnt have that for once and theres just something that looks really professional about having an all matt finish like that, like it says I dont want to worry about putting one little scratch on it.

Not unlike Edward James Olmos's Parkerized Colt Trooper MK 5 from MV which fit his Characters no frills personalty well in the show.

and plus most people have probably kept their colts in unmodified mint condition over the years so its not like he modified a really rare model that they only made a 1000 of so it doesnt really bother me.

although I do wish you had used a more beat up one thats been around the blocks a few times as the basis for your custom.
