Default What's the deal with bullpups? $1900 Kel Tecs??

I was checking prices on su2000 Keltecs and came across their bullpup designed .308 with an ask of $1899 and $1552 bid on another and the reserve isn't met. I don't see it but I've never touched one, let alone shot one. Guess it's the size.

theres just something cool about the design and how compact it is and honestly I'd love to have a Steyr Aug if I could afford it or a Walther WA 2000 but that baby is 40,000 some grand and rare as hens teeth

Walther Sniper Rifle

plus unlike the AR 15 it uses a pistol to open the action, like on the garand or the AK 47 not direct injection which has caused so many problems with the ar 15's design and is the reason why I will never own one.

I have never owned one the Kel Tec bullpups. Given their cheerful customer service, but problematic quality control and attention to detail... Well the idea of them making a rifle to stand .308 chamber pressures and then putting the action up against my face.... Eh....

Anyway the nice thing about a bullpup design is that it is more compact.

Bullpups are great for those of us with short wimpy arms. Anybody who is not 5' 9"+ and is not a regular at the gym and has tried shooting a FAL or M14 standing for any length of time will know what I mean.

The beauty of the RFB is that it can be used by left or right handed shooters as the brass comes out the front. Also, it uses readily available FAL magazines.

gas piston like on the M1 garand and the AK, the gas is diverted from the barrel when the cartridge is fired through a tube underneath or above the barrel like on the AK to the piston that pushes down on the action and loads in another cartridge

and with the ar 15 it links the gas directly into the action rather than using a piston to move the action, causing the cracking up problem with the action that's been plaguing ar 15/M16 since they were first made and it also can gunk up the action as well.

plus the 223 cartridge is having trouble reaching out above 600 yards right now hence why the military is having more M14 like guns made right now using the 7.62 nato cartridge with the M1 garand's action.

oh.... sorry I said pistol not piston, my mistake.

although I wouldnt trust an AR15 or M16 with my life to being with so I'd probably want a sidearm too if I had to go with one.

Bullpups are short, and thus handy, inevitably plagued with inferior trigger mechanisms, but for confined spaces, such as in a vehicle cab, are hard to beat --- rifle firepower in spaces usually relegated to handguns. I'll have one in my kit on an upcoming visit near the Mexican border, where lawlessness and bad actors are not under control, despite contrary claims...
