Question Need help from Elmer fans--OGEK Remington O3-A3?

So I decided not to pull the trigger on a military rifle that is available at LGS #2. While snooping, I spot an O3-A3 and it has Elmer Keiths' inspection cartouche from when he worked in Ogden, Utah. The metal is standard phosphate with some green and black coloring. Not sure if this is original or not. It is a '43 production. The price is right for the rifle regardless of the OGEK cartouche. I'm not a collector, but a shooter and I have a great Remington O3-A3 already. Christmas is when we are supposed to be giving to OTHERS, not ourselves. So, what to do? Anyone know solid information on the Remington O3-A3 OGEK configuration and pricing? Thanks

There were two EKs working at the Ogden plant at that time. Kieth's mark was [OGEK], the other guy (I forget his name) used OGEK.

I ran across that bit of information when I got my OGEK marked 1917 Eddystone.

Still, depending on the price, any kind of shape and and any where under $800 I would jump on it.

The greenish phosphate sounds right too. The finish turned green due to the cosmoline that was put on the rifles when packed & shipped.

kraigwy is correct regarding the markings. Elmer Keith's mark was OGEK inside a rectangle, Ed Klouser was OGEK without the rectangle. I have an M1903 that was produced in 1918 and apparently it visited Keith at Ogden sometime during WWII. My grandfather bought it as a WWII surplus rifle for $42.50, then proceeded to sportsterize it following an article out of a hunting magazine. Some day it will be my son's.

Here is a link to more stamping info:

Don't forget to post pictures when you get it!!

Looks like you got a GOOD one. I got lucky: a CMP carbine came with Elmer's rebuild stamp on it. It's not for sale.
