Default Father-son rifle restoration project

My son and I just finished restoring this Wards Western Field model 41 .22 rifle. Mossberg made it for Wards sometime between 1935 and 1937 and it is the same as their model 45. This thing was in bad shape; I've had it for at least 30 years, don't recall where I got it, and I've never shot it. We fixed feeding and trigger problems, refinished the stock, Duracoated it, installed new swivels, replaced the missing front sight, and mounted a new Barska 3-9x rimfire scope. We'll boresight it tomorrow, then take it to the range to sight it in properly.

Great project, especially the fine walnut stocks they used in the good old days compared to the birch and other synthetic materials used today.

Great job! Mossberg's are usually very accurate guns although their triggers are not great. Be sure to give us a range report.

Nice indeed. Target / sporter stocks are not that common on inexpensive guns. Should be a tack driver. Let's see some 100 yd targets with quarter size holes in them.

I'm a big fan of those old Mossberg bolt actions, well done on your restoration.
