Sure does count. The little Colt Jr is a neat little gun even if it was made by Astra.
Here`s one just like it except this one says "Astra Cub" on it. This one is a .22 Short instead of .25acp.
They are a very well made and work great. They don`t jam up like a lot of the little mouse guns do.

I think Feralmerrill has that same rug.

This SAA was shipped to Browning Brothers- Ogden Utah in 1887. The end of the barrel is worn to the bore on one side -from rubbing on saddle? or? It was purchased by my grandfather in 1940 from a guy who bought it in a saloon in Rifle Colorado about 1910. The story is the marshal had just shot the owner and gave the gun and holster to the bartender. The notches are thought to be an adaptation for a smaller hand. It would appear this SAA spent a lot of time in the badlands area during the outlaw era.

I only have one. It's a 1911 Combat Elite. My wife got a diamond ring for our 25th anniversy and I got a Colt.

Nice collections. Colts are hard to come buy where I live, you guys are lucky!! Many of these would be big$$$ around here. Some twice what that may be worth in other states.

51,000 serial number made in 1913. I took it to a local gun club 1911 night with a prize for lowest serial number and didn't even get it out- there were several with 4 digit serial numbers there that night.

Interesting old Colt. The barrel muzzle wear is usually from the bottom of the holster if the muzzle didn't stick out the bottom. The other side of the muzzle was protected by the ejector rod housing which probably shows similar wear. A lot of old Colts come out of Mexico looking like that and some are even worn thru the muzzle.

These are two of my favorites:
This is a 2nd gen from 1958 that started life as a 5 1/2" 38 Special. They aren't very popular with collectors so although in 99% condition I picked up cheap and turned it into one they didn't make, a 44 Colt with USFA barrel and black powder chamfer cylinder chambered for 44 Spl with separate cyl bushing like the 1st gen guns (and now late 3rd gen guns). Fit the vintage India Sambar Stags to it.



This one is a 3rd gen Sheriff 44 Spl/44-40 convertible with a USFA chamfered cylinder and cyl bushing. I got the grips unfitted on E-bite and fit them.

Thuer - Love the 4" Peacekeeper, I've wanted one of those forever. The few I see are always 6".



The only Colt's I have at the moment are 1911's -

This is one of my favorite guns. It's a 1952 Commercial Model that was turned into a Hard Ball gun by Jim Clark in 1983. When the former owner rec'd it back from Clark's he fired one magazine through it to try it out and put it away until I bought it. It is as tight as the day it left Clark's.

Here is my 2nd generation SAA, which was originally in .357 Magnum. I had it changed to .45 Colt by John Kopec of California. In retrospect, I should have left the gun in its original configuration, as the SN is 35729SA. I also fit and installed a 1st generation hammer by using a 2nd generation firing pin.

Very nice Defective Special, missing the knob on the extractor. The blue is so nice on this.


Police positive spl, not much blue on it. Has some stampings removed from the backstrap, may have been a department gun?.


Last but no least, my only 1911. Its an odd duck and was a flop by most accounts. Its a Combat Target, its almost a gold cup, but not quite. Its got a bead blast finish that always looks dirty.

I only have one, actually I bought it for my wife. I prefer Smith's and Winchester's, don't get me wrong, I have been known to sneak it out of the house and take it to the range.

There are some great Colts here.

I have a few, and the free-wheeling lack of focus shows I am even less disciplined as a Colt collector than I am as a collector of S&Ws. If I see something and like it, I will try to get it. As with Smiths, I prefer guns over a half-century old.

Three semi-autos: a 1940 First Model Woodsman , a 1949 Second Model Match Target, and one of the last M1908s; the last is a U.S. Property general officers model issued to AF Brigadier General Clarence Irvine.








Some revolvers, earliest first: a .32 New Pocket from 1897, about 90-95%; one of the first Officers Model revolvers, a New Army & Navy with adjustable sights (1904); a nearly new 1917; an uncommon Greek Army Contract revolver (Army Special, 4.5" barrel, smooth wooden stocks and Greek stampings) from 1916; two Commandos from WWII (probably 1943 for both); and an Official Police converted for target work in the LAPD manner (angle-cut grip frame and Blackford stocks, fixed sights with low-profile barrel rib, modest bling factor with jeweled hammer and trigger).













There are a few others, some kind of undistinguished and others at least a little interesting, but these are the ones I love this morning.

WC 145 The Peacekeeper is just a very very plain Colt Trooper MK V.

It was given to me. It is a sturdy revolver and a good shooter.

Mostly auto's but I like the dick special most of all.

I only have one, this 1951 second series Woodsman. It belonged to my grandfather and he taught my mom how to shoot; they set up a shooting range in their basement!

Yes= I bought it from Pony Express Sports Shop in Van Nuys, about 5 miles from Lockheed in Burbank. They were disposing of Police Positives and DS's from the security guards. As you may or may not know, the "Skunk Works" was over the hill in Lancaster/Palmdale and the security force was sorta paramilitary.

It is marked "LAC" =Lockheed Air Corporation and has a inventory number. Don't know if this will turn out.

I only have these 2 - would really like to have a snake someday.

Recently sold this MKIV Govt Model.

1903 Colt left wheeler.

Pair of .38 Commandos.

Model of 1917.

Detective Special which belonged to my wife's grandfather when he was in the Baltimore PD.

Frontier Scout .22. I traded for this back in the early 70s for a recurve bow. Got a holster and .22 mag cylinder.

Lastly is an 1860 Army I did some work on and is owned by a friend. This was used by his GG Grandfather who was a Brig Gen in the Union army. His picture is in the shadow box.

Rather scarce factory nickel New Service .45 Colt in about 98% condition, vintage 1932.
