Default Any .17 Remington fans?

Just reinstalled and lock tighted the scope on mine and going out to sight in tomorrow before doing a little calling this weekend...saw a bobcat yesterday so that got me motivated

Anyways loved this round and just wondering if any of you guys have one?

Thinking about trying to build an AR .17 Remmy upper eventually too. I know it can be done and is getting more popular but still hard to fine a lot of info on.

Here's the target last time i shot it. Better group was either .33 or .36 shot group @ 100...off a lead sled but was still was pretty happy. Mine's a Rem 700 BDL.

I`ve got one. A Remington 700 BDL in .17 Remington. But I admit I don`t shoot it much.
It is very accurate, if the gun is clean.
It will cloverleaf 3 round groups at 100 yards off of a sandbag, if it is good and clean.
For some reason, after 15 or 20 rounds the groups will open up considerably. But give the barrel a good swabbing and it will go right back to very small groups.
Not sure exactly the cause, but that seems to be the way it works with this rifle. Only .17 Remington I`ve ever shot, so I don`t know if this is common with this caliber or not.

I used to own a Remington Model 7 in .17 rimfire. I liked that little rifle but as with most of my long guns i traded it on something else.
Took it out to South Dakota on numerous P.Dog shoots. It was a very accurate little rifle that was fun to carry and shoot. Not much good when the S.D. wind kicked up though.

Yeah i've heard both sides of that...haven't shot enough between cleanings to really be able to attest to the claims though. I'll take you word for it though and keep the barrel nice and clean.

The reason i first got it was because of a guy up in Alaska who lived out by himself near the Caribou migration path and would shoot wolves for the pelts and he wouldn't even bother with any other caliber.

The idea behind it is the little .17 HP will break apart inside the body and often not even leave an exit hole. But i have shot a yote once that left a hole worth of a 300 win mag... Extremely fun little round that most people confuse with the newer 17 rimfires but it not even close to the same and compares better with the .204 and .222

I own a Rem. 700 BDL in a synthetic stock. It will shoot lots better than I do. The cartridge is only legal for varmints in Georgia, I bought it for groundhogs and coyotes.

Still have a couple of Remington 700s in 17 Rem.Have seen a few of them that would be really fouled out after only a few shots & those were quickly rebarrelled or swapped away. When you suddenly start getting unexplained misses, it is time to clean the bore. About this time you will also be seeing signs of excessive pressure caused by all the copper fouling etc. in the bore. My present 700 17 will do about 75-100 rds. between cleanings when loaded with the Hornady 25 gr. bullet & Winchester 748.

I really like 17 calibers for most varmint hunting.

My daughter shoots a 17 Remington.

I've got a 17 Hornet, 17 Mach IV, and 17-222. I've killed many many critters with the 17-222 using a 25 grain Remington bullet on top of Accurate 2015 powder at 4000 fps.
