There are several Contender and Encore custom barrel makers, I believe one of the is Arthur Brown.

About the same time a few years ago I bought a TC R55 22lr auto as S&W was in the process of buying TC. It's a real beauty and the receiver attracts a magnet. Even the magazines are metal.
Last year I looked at the new TC 22 22lr and compared to my R55 the TC 22 is a piece of junk imo. Oh and the R55 was only about $50 or so more than the current list price of the TC 22.

I have a TC Predator bolt in 308. 3/4" groups right out of the box. 3 pound trigger and all camo, including the 3x9 scope. Don't know if this helps, but I like the rifle.

Support can be very iffy, but there is a little. Years ago, i purchased an Armor Alloy Contender through the T/C association. That version had been discontinued, and mine was a Blem. On arrival, found it was missing the center fire hammer pin. Put it away until last year, and decided if I could get the pin installed. Contacted customer service and was told to send it in.
Sent it in on their dime, and waited. After about 2 months, called to find out the status and was told parts weren't available for that model. They asked me if I wanted it back, and said yes. On getting it back, found that the missing pin had been replaced.

TC stuff and it's support
Thanks, Westie1,
That was a pleasant surprise I'm sure.
I've gotten some positive experience from TC (S&W) customer service but it was about three years ago. Not so much theses days.
Absolutely love the product line, tho, and adore the aftermarket support from Bellm and White... even old Gonic and Ingram and Coyote Bbls.

When American Outdoor Brands spun off S&W did it include TC or do they still hold ownership of them separately?
