Worthy or not, you'd have a hard time gettin' one of MY Smith & Wessons if all you got with you is that Buck.

I have the Puma version with white handle scales. Prettier.
Better use some Simichrome polish on the brass bolsters. I see not just tarnishing, but some verdegris!
Good photo, though.
Lean more toward Puma or Randall sheath knives as S&W companions. Fallkniven's NL series also fit, although I really prefer Micarta handles to leather. Some of the optional Fallkniven handles on certain models look really nice.
I tend to associate Buck with Ruger. Both are good, solid values, but not fancy. I do love my Buck knives. Not being mean, just comparing refined items to more basic ones.
That Model 110 is heavy, but it works well. Still, a Puma Prince with stag handle looks nicer.

Gotta agree with you Bushmaster. That is a classic lockblade, made back when they were carried by people with a need and not by mall ninjas. Much like a Model 28 or Model 58, they are designed with use and durability in mind. A basic tool.

Thanks for the inspiration after seeing this thread I pulled out my old Schrade that I have had for the last 30 years and cleaned and polished it, probably for the first time in at least 20 years!

I have a 110 Buck, my father has one he's owned for years, and he still has a quite old one that belonged to his father. I always thought them too heavy, but a good knife. My father and grandfather swore by them.

Tis a shame you polished your knife IMHO. A polished knife is not my cup of tea. The world is full of shiny guns and knives, what the world is in short supply of is knives and guns with caracter. The Buck 110 is the crowbar of the cutlery world. I know of many workers who use one of these daily. They dont clean them, just use them from everything from cutting to mechanicing. I dont own but a few of them but dont carry them. I have trouble keeping my pants up without this chunk of iron in my pocket.

I've had a Buck 110 and a similar Case with two blades for over 30 years.
Just good reliable no nonsense knives. I also have to confess to having two benchmade knives as well. Frank

Buck 501 for about 36 years and a genuine made in Italy Stiletto with bone handle about the same age.
When I go for a physical my doctor always wonders why I have a red mark on my right cheek.

YUP - still have my Buck 110 from many moons ago. I don't carry it anymore since I have replaced it with a few Marble's Gladstone custom shop knives, but I keep it because it was part of my youth. I do take it out once in a while just to clean the Verdigris off the brass bolsters.

Gotto love the "early" Buck 110's and 112's ..... they were made with a better quality steel (440C) than the ones from the '90s (or somewhere in that time-frame) on.
Nice knife, and worthy to be carried on your belt with a holstered S&W.
Don

My J-frames are paired up nicely with several '90s vintage Emerson folders.

I've got one of those somewheres. I used it every day to open feed sacks and cut balin' twine. When I moved to town I retired it and started packing my Dad's old Western.
Have to hunt that sucker up one of these days.

Of course, Puma uses a different steel. But the Bucks with handle scales from their Custom Shop are sometimes impressive knives.
Thanks for posting that.
