Buck Alpha folding Hunter. Nice heavy duty with 3 1/2 inch blade that should be good for skinning.

Yesterday I picked up a CZ75 P-01 (9mm) to replace a 1984 Beretta 92F I sold to my brother a few years ago.
Going out tomorrow to break it in. Feels good, so we'll see.

Update - shot it and am pleased. Shooting Winchester white box 115gr from a benchrest and freehand, all 100 shots were left of point of aim. 100 Federal AE and still mostly left of POA. Shot closer to POA freehand than on bench. Drifted rear sight and going back out today.

Default New (to me) Fusion Custom 1911

I've mostly been content with the "off-the-shelf" 1911's. I've shot a few high end 1911's, but for my purposes stock works.

That ended Wednesday. I had sold off a few of my stock guns, and happened to drive past an unvisited LGS. In the used cabinet he had a couple of very nice 1911's; an STI double stack in .45 Auto, and a Fusion Firearms custom. One look at the Fusion, and I decided it would be a good addition.

This gun was built as an IPSC-type gun, chambered in 9x23 Winchester, and built when Fusion was still in Northampton, NY. After purchase, the previous owner had the rails accurized by local gun smith Doug Jones (Acc-U-Rail). The pistol is tight in every respect. It has a bit of wear at the front of the slide, and the grip safety and hammer have a bit of bluing loss. Other than that, its in excellent condition. Along with the pistol and (6) 9x23 magazines, it has a custom 9x19 barrel installed, along with (8) 9x19 magazines. The real bonus is that it also came with 800 rounds of 9x23 ammo.

The only downer was that it came with a FLGR, which I've since replaced. The Hogue grips are gone, and replaced with a set of VZ's. So far, I've left the 9x19 barrel in place. I'll take it to our club, where I can more easily reap the 9x23 brass.

It seems that the gun performs best when you really bear down on the grips. In the first three mags I had a number of stove pipes and FTE's. However, when I discovered that I was "limp wristing" a bit, I firmed up, and the next 150, or so, rounds fed without a hitch. Is it me, or do the tighter tolerances require more attention to basics?

It's accurate. A 6" bull at 15 yards was completely gone, and all I concentrated on was the front sight. It's far more accurate than I. After I got it home, I cleaned it, and found a replacement Wolff recoil and hammer spring kit in my 1911 box, so they were replaced.

Beretta M9 22LR - picked up this week. I'm a 92FS shooter so I had to have this. I really like it.

Differences from its 9mm uncle:
Price, 22LR, aluminum slide with different extractor and firing pin procession to accommodate rimfire, plastic front and rear dovetail sight inserts (comes with 2 front sight inserts of differing heights), polymer frame with metal rails, plastic recoil spring guide, lighter weight but not objectionably noticeable.

Similarities:
Exact same size, 15+1, magazine finds home (no fiddling), solid barrel, all the buttons and controls are in the same place and feel the same except that the decocker/safety switch has a mid point that you can feel and stop at which allows for quick decocking-only with the switch automatically returning to the ready setting without having to go all the way to "safe" and having to manually flick it up, flawless functioning (tried 6 types of high-velocity ammo w/ lots of fast-firing and had no FTF/FTE failures whatsoever and slide always stayed open on last round.

Cosmetically perfect, no defects in finish, does not come with a spare mag. Did I mention that I couldn't get it to jam or fail?

I have to go to the revolver section for the experts to tell me exactly what I have. I did the standard revolver checks, and everything is perfect.

Sorry for the horrible cell phone picture. Because it absolutely does what I need it to do, I refuse to upgrade my cell phone just to get a better camera. I'm now enduring the idiotic IL mandatory 72-hour "cooling off" period.

I had an f.o.i.d. Way back then. I gladly left Chicago behind in 1986.

You have a nice S&W military & police revolver, later termed Model 10.

This 1908 Swedish m96 made into a target rifle by the Swedish shooting societies (FSR). Shot m.o.a it's first time out which is pretty unbelievable being that it still has it's original barrel.

5 shots at 100 yards, 6" orange target. Notice those are irons, no optics needed.

It's official and paid for today. I found a Ruger Redhawk in 41 magnum in stainless with a 5 1/2" barrel. I have the 357 & 41 magnum RedHawks.

Need to slow down and get back on the wagon.

These are made from the finest steel in the world. If you look at the bottom side of the hand grip there are Swedish stamps in the stock. This tells how many times this rifle was pull from service and repaired. The swedes kept there rifles in top condition.
Think about it there are new rifles that don't shoot like that. A 100++ year old rifle that can shoot groups like that.

I really need to get a camera and learn to use it. As of last Fri, my latest was a 4 digit, chopped barrel (3-1/4") 1917 S&W in pretty good overall condition in both looks & mechanics. Got to the range today and I'm tickled to death with its performance using both ball and RNL.

Haven't received it yet, but I just bought a 1966 "T" series Browning Hi Power.

A commercial FN Mauser in 300 Win Mag.
A complete front half of a 1915-17 Model 12 Riot. After repairs it is on my M-12 for night duty.

A M-37 Ithaca. Did not know it when I bought it but it was a basket case, next stop for it would have been the parts choppers on ebay. It is all fixed up, need the grip cap and a new rubber recoil pad.

I found a M-37 bbl from the new series that has been cut from full choke to Mod? Anyway an inch is gone. I'm going to try to get it to shorten to 20" for another nightstalker stopper.

Got the hots for the following, Colt Competition, 3 screw Ruger 41 Mag with a 4 5/8" bbl. this will be my 3rd, the 1st 2 left when I was young and did a little trading a lot. This will be a keeper.

Default Waiting is the worst - or is it the best part?

After waiting for what felt like eternity I finally have it home, an Anschütz 1710 built in 1993 with the DST and a 4-12x48 scope manufactured by Schmidt & Bender. I changed the mount to an Anschutz bridge mount I had lying around and the rifle is begging now to be sighted in and come to life!

Beretta finally received their backorder of 10 and 15 round magazines for their relatively new 92FS-sized .22LR pistol "M9 22LR". The gun only comes with one magazine so I've been watching for availability, ordered and received two 15rd spares and also a pouch since I was cashing in a discount code. BTW - the gun continues to function flawlessly. Not one failure to... anything.

How the recoil? Can you compare it to a HK P2000 or G22? Better? Worse? Different? About the same?

I bought another M & P 22C for my wife to shoot since I got her into shooting. No picture of it right now since it went back to S & W before it went to the range. The takedown lever just about fell out when I took it apart to clean it before it's first range trip. They are also looking at the bore since it was very rough and had heavy machine marks not even close to the bore of the first one I bought a year ago.

Default Refugees from the anti-gun Northeast

This was just the month for .32's. One handgun from each side of the Connecticut River. A Hand Ejector from 1951 and a Pocket Hammerless from 1919. Just to round it all out, from upstate New York, a Remington Model 25 in .32-20 from 1923.
