Unfortunately for me, the only Cabela's in Illinois is located just within Cook County. I'm not a camper or serious outdoorsman. I don't buy their seriously high priced clothing, fishing gear, candied nuts, etc. I had a Cabela's credit card to solely earn points towards buying a firearm every now and then. Cook County, IL has gone out of control.
- $25 "violence" tax on all firearms purchases.
- 10% Sales Tax.
- 5¢ per round tax on center fire ammunition.
- 1¢ per round tax on rimfire ammunition.
I don't live in Cook County. I have other options to buy firearms and ammunition nearby. I'm cancelling my Cabela's credit card.
Which leads me to my latest ammunition & firearms related purchase, and my last from Cablea's. I had to burn my remaining rewards points. I purchased a Magpul stock and fore end for my Mossberg 590.

A Henry AR-7 .22LR. Cute little gun and I've wanted one for any number of years. I fell into a group buy on another forum. I haven't got it to the range yet, but look forward to it.

Well, I recently bought two used S&Ws: A stainless 6" 686, and a nickeled 8 3/8" M29-3:
I'm mighty pleased with both of them, although I am weighing whether to send the .44 to S&W for re-finishing (it has a few minor blemishes which, while not really bad, nonetheless drive me crazy. (Slightly OCD here.)
Naturally I've now developed a powerful craving for a Model 57 and a Model 25. I LOVE these big Smiths!

I had a table at the Paso del Norte gun show this weekend. Sold a few things, but couldn't find a single gun I even wanted to dicker on. Did pick up three knives, a Browning (the only one I've ever seen that didn't say 'made in China'), and two Shrade Old Timers; one a single lock blade the other with two blades and no lock. Anybody know what the numbers stamped on the blade mean; model number, type of steel, date of manufacture, or whatever?

I just got some of those Croatian AK mags through a local group buy, sold by Palmetto. 6 BHO metal mags for less than $33. They look brand new and well made. If they stink in use I'll edit this post!

The Hardin County Home for Wandering Orphans has been busy. Last week it was a Colt revolver, this week, it's an S&W autoloader. A Model 39-2, serial A233166, puts it about the mid-Seventies, I think.

Whats your latest purchase? "guns/accesories"
I just realized by participating in this thread that I am disposing of my disposable income at a very rapid rate of every other week or so........time for an intervention? Nah.
Leupold AR Mod 1 with the fire dot reticle for one of my ARs
Ruger 3 screw dated 1966.

I just filled a spot in my collection that I have been trying to fill for years now. A 1929-30 Colt Official Police, 5 inch issued duty gun from the Detroit Police Department. It came with the wrong grips so I picked up a correct pair from a fellow Forum member. It still locks up tight and shoots well.

Just picked up a new holster for my Sig P938. Like most I'm always searching for the perfect most comfortable holster. So far this one from StealthGear ticks the boxes. It's light and comfortable to wear, so far I'm liking it.

Have always wanted one of the Original Dirty Harry shoulder holsters... Borrowed one from a friend back in the late 1970s and it was the most comfortable and fastest shoulder holster I had ever used for a long barrel S&W revolver...
A few days ago I did a Google search on the holster and in looking at the pics there was one of two black holsters. I clicked on the pic and it turned out to be a ARMSLIST add for two black holsters...one 6" and one 8"... Contacted the guy and ended up buying the 6"...$250 delivered...supposed to be like new, worn three times. Current price with the speedloader case is $400 plus shipping...for $250 I thought it would be worth a try...
One more thing off the BucketList...Bob

I like Sigs and came across a good condition 9MM Luger Sig P290RS Liberty Edition with Siglite night sights at my LGS. Nabbed it for $300 OTD with both OE mags and the box. The graphics rub me the wrong way, but for the price, I'll ignore them.

I just won an auction for a Uberti Colt clone in 22 RF/Mag convertable. I put in what I thought was a low bid and won to my surprise. It will end up being $330 after shipping and transfer fees, pretty good price I think.

I just sealed the deal on this old Remington 1889 10 gauge, don't have it yet though.
Was looking for a wall hanger to put over the fireplace, stumbled on it. Said to myself, "I don't have one of those!" Bonus is that it should still be a shooter too.

I do believe I have a new carry gun. Charter Arms Bulldog 2.5" 44 special. I was surprised that at 19oz. This little gun the 44 recoil effect is nothing even close to shooting a 357 magnum. $389 otd and lifetime warranty. I am really surprised how accurate I can shoot it. This gun will take the place of my LCR 357 for my daily carry.
I ordered 500 Starline casings. 1000 coated 165gr bullets. 1000 primers. lee die set, and a holster. Cha Ching!

My latest is a Winchester Model 1906 pump. This is my first pump .22. I guess I felt my collection was lacking without a .22 pump. It's not a 98% gun, but is in nice shape and worth what I paid.

3 weeks at the gun show in Richmond, VA a S&W Model 27-3 with an 8 3/8" barrel followed me home. Looks like it has been fired very, very little. Got a good deal on it, too!

I wasn't looking for this and as a matter of fact, I'd never seen one. So my latest is this 2nd Gen Model 745 single action .45. it is my first 2nd Gen. It is circa late 80s and maybe you can describe it as an early S&W attempt to make a "1911". It has not been to the range yet but I'm confident it will be good shooter.

I keep coming back......this is getting expensive. But here is the latest that is waiting at my FFL. In fact picked it up here from a member quick and efficient process and a bargain to boot. Gluck 20 10mm in FDE. This will my second, they are great hog guns here in Texas.

A Benjamin 392 air rifle pump kind, made in USA I'm happy to say.
The manual cautions against pumping more that 8 times, What! I'm worn out after the required 3 strokes! It does seem pretty powerful even after 3-4 strokes.
I'm going to see if this year I can keep the assorted varmints out of my fig and Persimmon trees.

If I may be so bold.
Looks to be a Pachmayr Grip Glove.
Had one on my Shield. Very comfortable, but adds a little thickness.

Yeah, the reason I went with the Pachmayr grip sleeve is that
it's easier than the Hogue to slip on(esp. over the Talon grip that was already on).
