Default Banner month.....

We just acquired and M&P AR 15-.22 from a trade. It will be finalized when some paperwork comes through.

We've also made a deal on a pump shotgun for a really low price. The guy wants to get rid of all of his guns, and it needs a couple of pins. He had tried to reassemble it and got all kinds of help that just messed things up more and lost the pins. I got it working right and put a couple of bolts through to hold it together better until he could get the pins. Since then he's out of the gun business. Poor guy has mental problems and didn't want guns around, which for him is a good decision.

Ruger LCP, the internal-hammer original version. (Didn't want another striker-fired pistol, and I like the trigger of the original--resembles my DAO M640.) Cerakoted tan slide and flat dark earth frame.

Two extra Ruger 6-round magazines.

DeSantis Nemesis pocket holster.

One-ounce tube of mil-spec (and SIG Sauer-recommended) rail grease.

My first automatic in twenty years, and purchased only because health problems made even the weight of a steel J-frame a bit much for pocket carry.

Getting old is such fun.

That's one great Ruger for sure for a first Ruger. The Bisley is one fine revolver.

Since the only Glock Gen5 feature I find worthwhile is the finger groove delete, I've brought my Gen4 to a professional to delete the front finger grooves, a double trigger under cut, and a custom Kydex IWB holster that is compatible with a TLR-4.

Colt 16inch pencil barrel marked C MP 5.56 NATO 1/7 with a 08/04 date code just behind the sight tower. I plan to take apart a cheap M4 clone and my lightweight carbine with a slickside A1 upper receiver to make a couple different lightweight carbines. I will end up with a 16in carbine with a 12inch aluminum handguard, flat top upper on my CavArms polymer lower and a slickside Colt 654
clone. I also have some Norrel's Colt gray coming so I can match the upper and lower colors.

I love projects.

Should look like this when I get finished.

I guess this is "accessories" to my post from earlier this month.

Coated the action/barrel with CADPAT Light Green Duracoat. Stock sprayed with tan bedliner + black marbelizing spray. Added the Wilson Combat brake and the Primary Arms 1-4x. Cheek pad added because, well, no one wants to shoot a .45 caliber rifle with bedliner against their face!

Picked this Ruger Mark II with all the Volquartsen goodies yesterday. Put 100 rounds through, seems like a nice plinker, although hefty on weight. Trigger is very nice. Not sure about the red dot yet.

THE TRANSFER PAPERWORK ARRIVED!!!! I got my Lanchester Mk. 1* The transfer was approved on September 27, and it arrived in the mail this morning. From the laughing, shouting, howling, and shrieking for joy, I was afraid that my neighbor was going to call the Sheriff's Office to report that someone was being murdered. I jumped in my car and drove to the Class 3 dealer at a reasonable speed of 80 mph, and I got a little irritated when I came upon a slow poke doing only 70 mph.

But...I got it. I got it! I GOT IT!!!

September was a bit of a financially irresponsible month. I'd been very good for at least 5 or 6 months.

Bought a new CZ 75B, then within a week , I FINALLY found a CZ Shadow 2 ,that I'd been looking for, for at least 3 months.

Then last week I bought a SIG 220 in 10mm

Come on over. I want to add one more thing. The common ones were made by Sterling. I knew it wasn't a Sterling, and until I could get a close look at it, I thought it was one of the scarce ones made by W.W.Greener. I was wrong. It is one of the super rare ones made by Boss. Only approximately 3,900 made.

A friend and I went to the range today to burn through some boxes of ammunition. While were shooting, some people near us totally ignored us. I guess shooting a machinegun in Nevada is not unusual. I suspect that a certain New York City carpetbagger will return to Nevada to force New York City firearms restrictions on us.

I have fired a lot of different machineguns in my career, but this is the first time I fired my machinegun.

I'm near NY. Only slightly over an hour drive. Different gun laws though.... night and day.

I've only ever shot two select fire/FA firearms. One was a M16/AR variant. At that time I wasn't interested in names although I do believe it was an old Colt. And a Thompson gun. That was my first back in 2001 on my 21st Birthday. Some kids want to do 21 shots.... I've been there and done that (not to that extreme) way before so alcohol wasn't anything new. But I couldn't wait to send some 220gr 45acp down range in quick succession

I am no expert and I am late to the CMP party, but this arrived on Friday. I stripped, cleaned, lubed and greased it on Saturday (I have cleaned and lubed a lot of firearms, but I have never greased one before). This morning it goes to the range. I can only say that so far the CMP/Garand experience has exceeded all expectations.

I picked up a Freedom Ordnance FX-9 yesterday. Looks like a well-made piece. I think it will be fun, especially when I get my Silencerco Osprey 9 out of ATF jail. And for you Glock fanboys...wait for it...it takes Glock magazines!

I just bought a Gen 5 Glock 19 and a Concealment Express Kydex iwb holster. A match made in heaven. Love them!

Beretta M9A1 22LR.
Why? Its for RF 3-gun.
1- 15 round magazines.
2- All my other 22 pistols wear optics.
3- Blade-Tech makes a holster for it.
4- DA/SA w/decocker.
5- Reliable, unlike my GSG/SIG 1911 22.

Picked up a little Bauer 25ACP - stainless copy of a Baby Browning.
Got it because it was a bargain - due to having no magazine....

I recently purchased a M&P 22 Compact specifically to use as a training piece. Have two mid-age neighbor ladies who want to learn to shoot semi-auto handguns. Of course I took it out to the range to test fire and run several magazines through it. Found another use for this purchase, MY fun gun! What a sweet weapon this is; runs smooth, feels good in the hand, decent trigger, eats most anything I feed it, and wickedly accurate right outta the box. What's not to appreciate about a gun like that?!

I've been on a short barrel binge lately. 66-2 and 19-4. Photo's are from the previous owners.

Couldn't pass up this Kahr pm40. Get it out of jail Monday (CA). Was on sale $450. Big bore mouse gun. Not real crazy about the .40, but I have a few in that cal.

Modified new BHP III that includes Bar-Sto 1:16 barrel, C&S improved sear lever, SCG custom post front sight with gold bead, Novak adjustable low-mount rear sight, custom modified left-side thumb safety, beveled mag well and front of trigger guard, C&S low-mount Commander hammer, thin Macassar ebony grips by Craig Spegel, and a sweet, crisp 4.5 pound trigger job by Novak's.

The test target was fired with 115 gr. JHP Federal ammunition (9BP) at 25 yards out of a Ransom Rest. The shot in the center of the bull was the first "seating" shot. The other six were fired consecutively into a group that is just a hair under 2-1/2 inches.

Thumbs up

BlueRidgeBoy, That is a nice Hi Power. I've owned several, and used Bar-Stos in 2 or 3. Never had access to a Ransom Rest though. Interesting to see what the Hi Power with Bar-Sto will do in a rest. I have used the Federal 115 JHP in the 9BP, XM9001 and 9BPLE versions in a variety of 9MM firearms. No matter the version, the Federal 115 JHP always displayed excellent accuracy and functional reliability. A good choice for accuracy testing in 9MM firearms.

Thank you, sir.

I wanted a Hi-Power that was functional, meaning I could count on it to confidently make critical shots at 25 yards should the need arise. All of the modifications were made to realize that goal.

And I wanted it to be pretty, but simple. No two-tone metal, no bright wood, just simple, elegant, and business-like.

I am glad we agree about the Federal 115 grain. People don't seem to recall that Browning designed this pistol to shoot 115 grain bullets. The factory barrel uses a 1:10 twist rate as a compromise to handle the 124 and 147 grain versions as well as the 115s, but obviously, isn't optimal for them.

It was actually David Sams, who turned the Beretta M9 into winning DCM Distinguished Match pistol, who persuaded me about the barrel twist rate. He has Bar-Sto machine the match barrels he uses in his M9s with a 1:32 twist rate. I mean, when you first look down one of these barrels you think that there is no rifling there at all! David has found that 1:32 best stabilizes the 115 grainers that he can routinely get to group (10 shots) into 0.75 inches or less out of a Ransom Rest at 50 yards. So, the idea was to build a Hi-Power around such a barrel.

Unfortunately, for reasons I do not understand, Bar-Sto would not manufacture a 1:32 barrel for a Hi-Power. They would, however, be happy to machine one with a 1:16 twist rate. We figured, "16 ain't 32 but it's better than 10," and went with it. I think it ended up being worth it. You can peen the rails and take out almost all of the slop in the slide to frame fit, but Hi-Powers shoot loose fairly soon even with standard pressure loads, so what's the point? Of course, there's no bushing at the muzzle, so the barrel modification seemed critical to reach the stated accuracy goal.

By the way, the home brew that David Sams recommends to the Distinguished shooters who fire his M9s calls for a 115 grain JHP made by Nosler, I believe, although I have a notation from him calling for an XTP 115 JHP over 5.0 grains of N330. We'll see down the road if I can't wring a little more accuracy out of this pistol by tweaking the load.

I have one of those, it's nicely made and a challenge to shoot accurately, but mechanically accurate.

I've been bitten by the .32 acp bug, have a couple CZ-27s (one for me, one for my son), and they're great shooters. So nice my ex tried my son's, and wants one for herself.

Speaking of .32's, I just won a Mauser 1914 that is sitting at the FFL, waiting for me to go pick it up. I will do so tomorrow.

BRB, thanks for the additional info. I wouldn't be surprised if you able to find, or develop, a load for your particular pistol that groups under 2" at 25 yards. My guns with Bar-Stos shot as well as the Browning GP Comp versions I've had, no slide tightening required. That is a really nice "latest purchase" you've got there for sure.
