Yesterday evening at the ending of an auction I acquired this beautiful S&W Model 41 with a heavy barrel at a very reasonable price. $700 including Shipping and 4 magazines.

Two of the four old model short barreled Ruger blackhawks I stumbled onto this last month or so. One is a 41 mag and one is a 45 Colt.

Just purchased my first Browning Benchmark 22lr.
This afternoon I fired five hundred rounds through it using three 10rd mags.
With No issues at all.
Except loading thumb.

Have you tried a mag loader? I bought one that helps push down the side button and saves your thumb.

Ruger Match Champion in 357 with Letts style grips and a Novak front night sight. Looked long and hard for a 686 6 shot Mountain Gun and ultimately bought this Ruger instead. Wish I would have known the 10mm MC was coming out. Have all the gear for running 10mm.

Went to The LGS to check out a couple old model 10's/M&P's. Each of the 3 had their own issues. Then I spied a Ruger Police Service-Six.
First wheel gun I've had in 12 years... first SA/DA in 30 years.

I had to buy a stainless steel recoil spring assembly for my Sield 45 since mine broke and I’m not expecting S&W to expedite shipping me a new one. While I was at it, I purchased two more 7 round magazines from Mag Commander for $40.

In route to looking up other things.... I was checking if there were any good deals on Tyler T-grips for the previously mentioned Police Security-Six. Low and behold a pair of lightly used Walnut Herrett stocks popped up for only a couple bucks more... Couldn't resist I had to join gunbroker, but they are on their way.

Purchased a Browning Buckmark 22lr pistol.
Put 500 rounds down range with just three 10 round magazines.
It was fun.
No failures.
Then I ordered a rail and bushnell trs25 optic
Can't wait to shoot it again.

Found some brand new, old-school, non-logo Pachmayr target grips for my Model 29-2 on EBay for $29 shipped.
I love these grips. It's not like I'm going to be shooting a bunch of hot Magnum loads but, every now and then when I do, it won't be with any discomfort at all. I put these same grips on every Model 29, 57 and 27 I owned during the 1980's and 1990's.

My local AR-15 armorer hosts build classes and does a couple of giveaways for veterans every year. Last December, I won a free pistol build class and all the parts for it. The only thing I had to bring was a stripped lower and I, too, went for a Spike's Special Snowflake for pretty much the same reasons. It turned-out pretty nice for a franken-AR build and it shoots great!

Gradually acquiring the parts to assemble an AR-15 upper. Parts are a combination of what I have in my parts bin + items found on clearance / sale. It started with a "hey that's a good price on a barrel" a few months ago.
- Aero Precision slick side upper. No forward assist.
- Bear Creek Arsenal 16" stainless 1:8 barrel, 5.56
- Aero Precision upper completion parts kit.
- Carbine length gas tube
- WMD Ni-Bx gas block
- WMD Ni-BX charging handle
- Rainer Arms stainless single chamber brake (from parts bin)
- Fail Zero lightweight BCG (from parts bin)
It's fun to not be in a rush. I'm waiting for a sale or clearance on a decent free float hand guard, iron sights.

I salute your good taste in lowers!
I've reconnected with the enjoyment of building an AR-15. I'm past the learning phase, the have to try everything phase, worry about minute details of this-or-that part. I know my preference and what makes a practical difference to me.

Thanks! I don't think I would've tried doing a build if I hadn't won the giveaway. I've never been much of an AR-guy, even during my Army days. Once I got to my permanent duty assignment, I was assigned to a weapons squad. Back then, it was M67 90mm recoiless rifles and M60 MG's. I humped a 90 for about 18 months before working my way up to the 60. Once I got the 60, I wasn't about to let it go. To me, it was the best job in an Infantry platoon. No, my constant companion was a gnarly-looking Colt 1911A1 that was 10 years older than I was. When I re-upped, I changed MOs's and became an 11H and drove a jeep with a TOW anti-tank missle launcher on it. My issue-gun was a slightly less gnarly-looking Colt 1911A1 so I never really touched another M-16 after Basic and AIT.
One thing I learned about doing an AR-build, though, is that if you learn from the right guy, you'll end up with something better than anything you can buy off the shelf for hundreds of $ more. I'm glad I did it and I would do it again.

Added a Hera SFU to my Typoon 12. These things are a ton of fun and classified as a 'firearm' so as long as it stays over 26" unfolded it is legal.
8.75” barrel 12 gauge.

I just got a Sig Sauer Romeo 5 scope. I mounted it on my Freedom Ordnance FX-9 carbine. The scope seems to be quality and I like the ease of sight adjustments and operation. The price was very reasonable. The only thing I'd change is to have the tube a little larger in diameter.

How about a shooter grade 34-1. It's not been shot much but it has some pitting and finish wear under the grips and on the side plate. It's a pretty nice gun otherwise though. I don't expect to see another one anytime soon
