Default Picked up a odd older scope and mount....I think they may have some value

This was from an auction in Nevada with one dark picture. I bought it and had it shipped. Something told me to bid on it.

The scope is marked on the bell "GERMANY PECAR BERLIN VARIABLE 3-7"....Glass beautiful in it and has somewhat of an odd retical. I'm sorry about my poor pics but I couldn't get this phone to focus on the reticle design....Not being a scope expert, the reticle kinda looks like a 30-30 reticle, but the upper crosshair is very fine. It has a serial number on the bottom of the lens "54839", and it has its original leather scope caps with has a "PECAR" stamp in the end of the cap....It just feels like an extremely well made scope from the 50's.

The mount, rings are all marked "PARKER- HALE MADE IN ENGLAND and then BA 27".

From the best I can gather from searching, the scope mount was made by Parker Hale in the 50's for their own target custom Lee Enfield rifles... I have found some information on the mount and rings, but no prices. There are a few scopes like it listed, but they have no mount and don't seem to be cheap.

Anybody ever seen on of these? Again, sorry for these not so great pics.

That is a cool package! You might call VintageGunScopes.com and see if they can point you toward more information. They’re very nice, helpful people in my experience.

Hard to tell from the photos, but if the side mount is flat where attached to the action it could work on an SMLE No4 type. Parker Hale did some nice work. The scope is definitely high quality too.

Just a SWAG but the scope is about $300.00 mount maybe $150.00.

I know only the name, not any details. They were fairly common back in the 50s-60s, probably not comparable to the higher end rifle scopes on the market today. Some probably had metric diameter tubes. You might look on eBay and GunTrader for value guidance, likely quite a few might listed there. I wouldn't get too excited about one unless I had some older classic rifle from that time period to mount it on.

From what I see on eBay, they are not actually selling for big bucks. Quite a few listed at fairly high prices but they are not selling.

I have always hated those scope mounts because when you remove them, you have a rifle action that looks like Swiss cheese.

I am a fan of the Remington model eight and also savage 99 and way too often you see holes because of those scope mounts
