De Santis holster for my 640-1 and an ankle holster for $2.98 that the slow boat from China hasn't docked yet. Yep $2.98 is not a misprint.

642 last week. Spring kit for 642 this week, also new recoil spring and Hogue grip for LCP, and a replacement transfer bar for a Ruger Blackhawk.
Last but not least, 60 pounds of lead.

Scored a nice 686-3 2.5" with combats at last week's Big Reno Show. Sorry about the recycled picture, it's seen a lot of miles this past week. I'll take new pictures after I install new Ahrends Moradillo Retro Bananas.

Looking for better fitting grips. No one seems to make good wood grips for these, and the plastic ones don't fit and, worse, slip.

I just found this thread. Had I known it existed I would have already posted several times.
Anyway, my latest purchase is a SS Taurus 66 .357 with a 4" barrel. It's definitely a tamed hand cannon.

I bought another Springfield Model 1873 Cavalry Carbine. My son jokes that I'm trying to equip a Cavalry Troop.

There are some modern guns coming up for auction this coming weekend. Let's see if I add any to my collection.

I finally received the Mech Tech CCU I ordered last month. Added my 1911 frame (with Recover Tactical Grip), Ultra Dot 30MM sight and a cheap weapon light. I can't wait to get to the range and put some .45 ACP ball on target! Sorry about the poor photo, my nosy neighbor was out, so I took the picture on the back porch with the cell phone flash.

Browning Strike Force Recon trail camera.Been looking & researching trail cameras for awhile. Don't have one but this seemed the "best for the buck" trail camera.
Just ordered it on sportsmansguide last night with SG double discount camera and 32M card = $151.00. Some more Geco 38 sp. ammunition & Armco 22 magnum. Another Archangel Mosin Nagant synthetic stock with 10 round magazine $120. Set of 22 call 1" scope rings. A Mr. Buttsmoociemoe hammock for my wife!
Last gun I bought? Uh... a Winchester model 12 riot SG?

The Ruger SR22 didn't stay with me long. By an act of the Divine, I managed to purchase the very same pistol that was used by my god daughter during her NRA children's introduction to firearms class.

She'd been asking her dad to go shooting. Her mom was a bit nervous, and was hesitant to agree to allow her 12 year old daughter to come with her dad and I to the range. The solution was easy. For Christmas, I gifted her enrollment in a NRA certified children's intro to firearms class. The pistols used for instruction were Ruger SR22's. Classroom instruction, test, and then supervised range instruction. Towards the end of the range instruction, each student shot a 5 round target for competition. My god daughter beat out the entire class. 4 shots in the bull, one on the ring. She won a baseball cap. I had my DSLR with me and took a few pictures.

Fast forward to a few days after I brought the SR-22 home. I'm looking at the pictures. One of them was a close up of the gun she used. I zoomed in on the serial number, and wouldn't you know it? Used pistol in my hand is the exact same one in the picture. The exact same pistol that my god daughter ever fired and won with.

I tell her dad. He thinks I'm making it up. I show him the pictures and hand him the pistol. The SR-22 is now in his safe, in his care, until his daughter is old enough to take possession.

So I still need an easy to use, breakdown, clean .22lr pistol for marksmanship fundamental practice. This came home with me today:

Comrades!! Just won a Gunbroker auction on a CZ 75B 9mm Cold War Commemorative model with the silly red stars and hammer and sickle insignia with Cyrillic stampings all over. Round trigger guard and spur hammer. I only hope the owner's manual is not in Cyrillic too. This is my second semi-auto after getting a Beretta 92FS for Christmas (blame The Walking Dead on that one!). Still a S&W revolver guy at heart (617, 640, 686, and a 629) but people close to me were suggesting it was kind of time to enter the later half of the 20th Century and these two bottom feeders really struck my fancy not being tacticool polymer designs and everything. So...Mama Mia!...Comrade!

Last Sunday, traded into a 686 Pro Series. Got rid of my LAST poly gun. It isn't that often you can make a good deal at a gun show. (around here anyway)
Ordered some fancy Hogue Wood Stocks for it Friday night. Bob

Default Finally procured a 1911

It's a mildly customized SR1911 lightweight commander from either 2016 or 2017 that I picked up via trade recently. The stainless slide was cerakoted by a local shop in a blue/black/gray color. The mainspring housing is a chainlink pattern, trigger is serrated, the rear sight is a 10-8 and the front sight is a Trijicon. In the box were the original parts, Ruger grips, and grey/blue/green VZ grips.

I gave up a Kahr PM-9 for it.

Cool! I just got a TP9SF Eiite yesterday. Took it to the range and discovered that I should have gotten 2. I think my SO is going to steal this one.

I was lucky enough to snag a 1955 vintage Belgian Browning A5 on GunBroker.com. The barrel is too short for my likings, and is being replaced with a 30" Vent Rib. For the price, it was a fantastic purchase.

A Bisley in .38-40. What .40 S&W performance looked like in 1904. A .401 diameter 180 grain bullet at 950 fps appears to have been effective back when Winchester first tried it.

Went to the local Spring Gun Show in Kalispell last weekend, and picked up a Ruger MKIII4 for .22LR plinking. Dad bought the earliest model, known as the "standard" with the short barrel back around 1963, when I was about 12 years old. He introduced all of us kids to handgun safety and target shooting with that pistol. My younger brother still has that little Ruger, and I decided I needed to have one of my own. Next time we get together, we'll have a little brotherly competition to see who shoots their Ruger best.

I've changed a couple of things for my M640 carry. Changed from a Clip-Draw to a Uncle Mike's 36 IWB holster and changed the Pacmar Gripper rubber grip to Hogue Battan rubber grip. The Hogue lessens the recoil better in my hand web.

I bought two 38 spl Bianchi speed strips. I should have bought some years ago. So much easier to carry than the drop in speed loader. Without a doubt they will not be fast for a reload as the drop in but I never carried the drop in before either. Like they say what's sitting at home is no use on the outside for defense.
Loading was easier than I expected it would be.

A set of KSB diamond service grips with no numbers at a LGS...with screw.
Figure early to mid sixties, maybe for a Dayton 14-2?? Haven't looked close enough yet. Two pocket holsters: two 640-1 models. One large Remora holster. Maybe a couple of other things. Had been on a long dry spell. Now I feel much better.

I recently purchased a used never fired Kimber Solo for sake of curiosity at a price I couldn't resist.

Have fun with your new gun. It is a good looking .22 caliber.

Didn't exactly buy it but got it from a friend's estate. .22 Rem Jet inserts for the Model 53, they have German proofs on them. The gun was sold decades ago.

I've bought a few more things than usual here lately. I found a near pristine .38 special Victory mislabeled and priced as a British gun. Trigger was not good and accuracy suffered. It was sold. Then a well used 6" pre model 10. It's very nice shooting and will probably get some work done eventually. Also got a LCP the same day. Junk. Literally won't fire 2 rounds in a row. We're talking tiny bolt action. It will be sold soon. Finally, about 2 weeks ago I went in a shop with fresh tax money and walked out with a new favorite carry gun: an original .380 Remington model 51.

I just bought a Canik TP9SF Elite the other day. Best $370 I have spent in a while. Seriously I am impressed.

Default Three Pistols

Three pistols from a friend's estate. I'd rather have the friend than the pistols. First is a French Mle 1935A. It has an "L" prefix to the serial numbr so it's fairly late production. It was designed by Petter and is the forerunner of the SIG P 210. Next is a Mle 1935S. When Ch*tellerault couldn't produce pistols fast enough to supply the French army in Indochina, they farmed out production of some parts. This frame was made by Manufrance, and is stamped MF. The serial number has the letter prefix "G" and they are usually referred to as 'MFGs'. Last is a Model 1930 Mauser in pretty nice condition. The stock has a typical German repair for a split in the wood. It's almost the right one for this pistol; late stocks had no serial number on the attaching iron and had the Mauser logo on one side. This one, however, also has a cutout on the inside for a selector switrch; it's for a schnellfueuer! Too bad I don't have a schnellfeuer instead of the stock.

Oh so true. I have a number of firearms I purchased from a now deceased friend. I'd give them all back if it would change that fact.

If you're like me, you think of him every time you handle the guns.

Where do you find the ammo for the Mle 1935? There are a few for sale at a LGS that I've been eyeing but where to find the ammo?

Ammo is scarce and expensive. I believe Buffalo Arms carries it. Usually it's made from cut down 32 S&W Long cases with an extraction groove cut in the rear. French military ammo is scarce and corrosive. It's usually duds, too.
