In case you don't already know. Don't put the wavy washer, that comes with the Ruger, on the pistol with your can. Just screw on the can onto the threads.

Default A curious little old .380 ACP pistol

I had it marked on my LGS for some time. Picked it up today.

One of the first, if not the first, pistols designed from the start to be chambered in .380 ACP. The others I remember were initially designed for .32 ACP.

So here it is CZ vz24. Curiously, unlike most pistols chambered in .380 ACP, this is not a blowback pistol. It has a locked breech via a rotating barrel.

And. It was designed as a military sidearm.

Default And...

Visiting the LGS is always dangerisk. To my wallet that is.

So... After I inspected it... I marked as mine this little "war finish" Webley MkIV.

It will make good company to his older bigger brother. And also to his "cousin".

I purchased two firearms yesterday, a Romanian Tokarev TTC and a Glock 17 FXD Gen 5.

It took me this long to post about it because I had planned on posting pics along with it, but unfortunately that had to wait because I had to clean out all the nasty cosmoline inside as well as clean a bit of rust off the magazine.
I've finally finished cleaning it, but I had so much trouble doing so that now I'm completely exhausted and in no mood to snap any pictures.

Allow me to explain, because it's actually kind of a funny story... I was having a terrible time just trying to break the thing down. It comes apart almost exactly the same way as a 1911, you push down on the guide rod, rotate the barrel bushing off, you pop out the slidestop pin, take the slide off the frame, pull the recoil spring/guiderod out of the slide, push the barrel link out of the way, then slide the barrel out of the frame. However, the Tokarev has a little clip which holds the slidestop pin in place, and while it's supposed to simply slide backwards to release the pin, said clip was actually wedged between the pin and the backside of the idiotic add-on safety lever that just had to be there because of the Gun Control Act of 1968 which imposed all manner of unnecessary restrictions on the import of firearms into the US, one of which being the requirement of a manual safety which the Tokarev lacks in its default configuration. So I basically had to force the clip backwards, which resulted in it coming off (non-destructively) the frame entirely, and leaving a lovely brass line on the frame where the tool I was using skidded against it.

So I proceeded to clean the cosmoline out of the frame, slide, and barrel, which took quite a while to do. Once I was done, I had to struggle to get the gun reassembled because unlike on a 1911, the Tokarev's barrel bushing doesn't have a handly little crescent shape cut out so that the guiderod can just click into place, thus reassembly is far more difficult, especially if you have large hands like mine. I actually ended up handing it off to my brother who has more experience with 1911s than I, who showed me how to reassemble it more easily.

However, in the process, something marvelous happened... Turns out that the slidestop pin retainer clip wasn't wedged against the add-on safety due to poor placement, but rather because it also is what retains the safety as well, ergo the clip getting pushed completely off the frame had the unintended fringe benefit of causing the add-on safety lever to fall out of the frame. Fortunately, the only downside to this is that it leaves behind a rather large hole in the frame, otherwise it's actually pretty nice because said safety is a completely superfluous trigger-block safety which does nothing to block the firing pin, ergo it really shouldn't be relied upon anyway and only serves to throw off the look of the gun. As far as the hole in the frame goes, there are actually some nice aftermarket wood grips available that cover the hole, so I'll probably just buy a pair of those and be done with it. In fact, I may just put off taking any pictures until I can get some of said grips and really dress her up nice.

Oh, I forgot to mention... After the worthless add-on safety lever fell out of the frame and I reinstalled the slidestop pin retainer clip, it now functions properly because it's no longer wedged in place.

Bought a sporterized ishapore enfield in .303 brit, have always wanted an enfield, never wanted to pay the money they're demanding now... and the fact its already sporterized makes any further modifications not feel so bad. Will post pics when I pick it up.

Two Speed Beez loading blocks for a K-frame and an L-frame came in today. Dealing with this firm again has confirmed two things.

They make reasonably good products and their customer service could use some work. Shipping was very slow, and they could also answer their emails.

I bought another Single Action Army yesterday. It's a Taylor's & Company, made by Uberti, and has a 7 1/2" barrel. The caliber is .32-20 W.C.F. For the money they are very nice and workmanship is very good.
Now I just have to find time to shoot it along with the other Single Actions I've acquired recently.

Most recent was a set of magnas to get my S prefix model 28 back to stock. My serial is in the 260s and the grips are from a 322 patrolman so close enough!

I have had two stripped AR-15 lower receivers for a while. I bought a PSA lower receiver build kit with Magpul stock and grip and a lightly used Windham Weaponry 5.56x45 upper and put together another carbine yesterday.

Mines is a late 70’s blue Ruger Super Blackhawk in the box and the shipper. Though not advertised as such after cursory examination it looks unfired. It has a very light turn line, no residue on the cylinder or between the barrel and the topstrap. I haven’t pulled the cylinder to avoid possibly messing up and marking it up. I’m one of those guys that could break an anvil with a rubber mallet.

The last thing I took delivery of about a month ago is a Henry 357 Big Boy Brass carbine. Really like it!

Last week I ordered a new S&W M&P AR15-22. I’ve been thinking about one for some time and finally gave in. Unfortunately there are none to be had in my area so I had to order. Also my dealer wanted a pistol I’ve been thinking of selling or trading so we struck a deal. It’s a CZ75 pre model B single action with Bomar sights and 8 magazines.

Can’t wait to get the AR 15-22. It’ll pair well with my S&W Victory 22 performance center version.

A bbl for a 98 Mauser in caliber 12.7×70mm Schuler (aka .500 Jeffrey).
Made by Lothar-Walther. It's a new bbl. Needs fitting and headspacing ect. .510 groove dia.

One of my projects of the future.
When I'll get to it is anyone's guess!
This Winter I hope.

Also bought a No1MkIII Enfield converted to .22RF. Then FTR in 1956. But later sporterized by someone by cutting the forend off at the front band/swivel and removing the upper handguards and nose cap.
Perfect bore, great condition otherwise.
Great shooter as is, but I have the parts and frt & rear handguards to restore it.
I just have to make a front portion for the forend that was cut off and splice it to the shortened forearm.
Never ending projects

Got this in a heads-up trade for my 50 cal. black powder rifle. Owner is a good woodworker, had finished building mine, decided he wanted to keep it. So now I am a proud owner of a Mossberg 464 30-30. Pristine condition from what I can see.

I bought a CZ Hammer Classic SxS shotgun Monday. No pictures, I won't get it until Friday at the earliest. I got it in 12 gauge, been looking at them for a while.

I'll post pictures when I get it. They are Turkish made, by Huglu. I spoke (email) with CZ-USA customer service, they said less than 0.5% of the Huglu guns they sell have ever been returned for service.

Two Viridian lasers, one for the Taurus G2C truck gun, and the other for my Ruger LCP. At 70 front sight focus no longer optimal.
Taurus had a laser sale that also included two free G2C 12 rounds mags, and when the laser came it also included a 50% discount coupon for another laser purchase at Viridian.
Apparently even a blind squirrel finds an acorn once in a while...

I picked up a 28-2 last week, dates to 62 or 63 Nice thing is that it has a python 4" barrel on it. A smolt , it has been neglected for many years , not much finish, It has taken 2 days just to clean it. But it shoots just fine now.

Agree. In fact, that gun probably deserves its own thread. I'm looking forward to pictures and a discussion. Sounds like a great piece.

I did take some pictures when I removed the side plate, they are on my cell. Tomorrow I'll try to post them on their own thread. I'll just have to figure it out .

Just bought a Sig P365XL. Was looking at the P365. Figured that with the 12 round magazines, the P365 would fit my hand good. Decided that for the price of the magazines, I could just pay the difference and get the XL. Very happy with the size, capacity and how it fits my hands. The XL should not have the "bugs" that the P365 experienced.
