EXCESSIVE Shipping charges - $35 for shotgun barrel
Often we complain about seemingly excessive shipping charges.
I submit this seller wanting $35 shipping for a Remington 1100 barrel.
Can you show a more ridiculous shipping charge??
I sent an e-mail, and did NOT receive a response.

$35.00 for Priority Mail seems a little high. What all is included that raises the price form the about $10.00 for postage?? Insurance / Signature Required / ??? tumbleweed

I recently shipped a Remington 870 barrel via Priority Mail for about $14 and change.

I was going to say that this is America and nobody can force you to buy something you don't want.
But I would be wrong.

I notice this on Ebay often. They think they're being slick by asking a lower price to get your intrest, than making it back in shipping. You can buy a $12 knife on ebay for 99 cents. You'll pay $15 in shipping. They'll probably throw one in for free if you pay shipping and handling.

That was a way for sellers to keep their FVF (Final Value Fee) charges down
since the FVF's only apply to item cost, not shipping. It was quite common on eBay
back when I was active there and the term used for the practice was, "Fee Avoidance."
I'm sure it still goes on, to some extent, but would also be willing to bet that eBay has
taken what steps they can to reduce the practice, which takes money out of their pockets.

I've seen enough of S&H gouging so that I now check before I buy. More and more sellers are tacking on shipping fees in excess of what it costs. It's everywhere across the web now, often a deal breaker for me. I'd email the person and cancel the transaction.

Well you know, there's the cost of gasoline to get to the post office, and a cardboard box and uh, ...
Well the cost of cardboard boxes has gone up a lot lately, did you know that? I read it on the Internet.
Seriously, what the others have said. There are wolves out there waiting to shear unwitting sheep in all walks of life. Good thing you caught it before you bought it, yes?

I believe that e-Bay now charges fees on the final price including shipping. Either way, I ALWAYS look at the total cost including shipping and did (or pass) accordingly.

Your forgot about the "handling" as in S/H

I did NOT bid.
I did NOT bid. Not even a lowered bid to compensate for the high shipping charges.
So far nobody has listed any other EXCESSIVE shipping charges. [e.g. Late night TV offer of Spray Rubber Sealant $9.95 per can, but now get a second one for free. TWO cans for $9.95 plus shipping. Order now and get TWO more cans and only pay shipping. QUICKLY read the fine print on screen - S/H $9.95 for each pair of cans. Money Back Guarantee - Return and get Purchase price less Shipping and Handling)
E-BAy addressed the situation of excessive shipping many years ago with a "Fee Avoidance" policy.
Gun Broker seems to not have any fee avoidance policy.

GBSupport1111 You are able to ask the seller what is included in the shipping costs - special packaging? insurance? If the price is still too high for you, then do not place a bid.

[Bekeart ID redacted] Remington 1100 12GA BARREL VENT RIB : Shotgun Barrels at GunBroker.com $25.00 for shipping seems VERY EXCESSIVE! Is there a policy concerning shipping costs. Thanks

I once got charged $16 S&H for a set of $18 rings from Midway. The came in a padded first class envelope. So much for fair and honest shipping charges.
