Default Winchester Model 20 . 410 single shot

Going to an estate auction this week and planning to look at a Model 20 Winchester single shot .410 shotgun. Not sure of its condition, but would like to know if anyone has any idea about what it might be worth. I know that they were made from 1919-1924 and most were 2 1/2" chamber. So, if anyone knows what these are selling for please let me know. Thank you!

Saw one on GunsAmerica for $350. Can go 6-700 for excellent condition, even poor condition would likely be worth $150 or so.

I have one of them....they are pretty scarce. But they are a tank of a single shot. very well made, and serialized, something that was not commonly done on lower-end guns of the period.

Thanks once again fellows! I definitely am not going to pay $800 for a single-shot .410. The fact that it is scarce and with the Winchester name on it is usually enough to drive the price into the next world. Hopefully, I will be the only one there who knows anything about it and I can get it for about $125! Yeah, like that's really gonna happen!

That gun sold for $475.00 at auction Saturday. It was in need of some repair as the hinge pin seemed to be loose and allow play when the gun was closed. I just thought that was too much money for a single shot that needed work on it. Oh well, maybe next time.

If you are looking for a collectable, you're probably gonna pay a lot of money. If you are looking for a good .410 shooter, there are plenty of the old store brands built on the same action for a LOT less. I picked a nice one up, Columbia is the brand name I think, for a song last year.

I'm glad to know they are bringing that much in rough shape.
I've got one that is slightly better than that- it's tight and shoots great but sure not much to look at...and 3" chamber to boot.

Great shoot'n little guns.

Yeah, it was a 2 1/2" chamber. Just thought I might have too much money in it if I ever wanted to sell or trade it. I'm sure it could've been fixed right, but not by me.

A friend has one, wow another Winchester classic. If you get to inspect one, you have to be impressed. All to often single shots are made for kids. We all know what kids do to their first fishing pole, bicycle, gun and car. The thinking on first guns for kids was make it cheap. This is not the case with the model 20. I love single shots but own just a few because of their cheap design and quality of material. The first thing I look at is the trigger guards. 90% or above are nothing but stamped tin strap attached to the stock by hardware store wood screws. If not a strap of metal, often plastic or pot metal casting. The model 20 is milled steel incorporated into the action itself. Not an add on part. I have to find me one someday as my friend is getting tired of looking hopelessly for his, and realizing I still have it.
