MKIV Target
I got a MKIV Target a year or two ago but hadn't shot it much. Had a MKIII 22/45 awhile back but it went to my son. Well anyhow, since I got a G40 and G19 with red dots and my mind is, having some difficulty adjusting to red dots, I decided to put the same red dot on my MKIV. I did that yesterday. I got it zeroed in yesterday and today.
Problem: While the trigger is clean, with little take-up and acceptable over travel, it is way too heavy for a single action target pistol. I'm not so young anymore so I already have enough trouble staying steady without dealing with the heavy trigger. I've worked on 10-22 triggers with pretty good success (staying conservative) but I haven't even looked at the MKIV trigger. I don't think it's similar.
So, any suggestions other than the Volquartsen Accurizing Kit, which is what I'm currently looking at?

Shoot it a while. They tend to break in nicely!

I have put in a lot of Volquartsen kits in Ruger 22s. Makes day and night difference. Everyone was pleased except one. He wants me to do something to make trigger a little heavier. That is no joke. A first for me to say the least.

Try the ApexTactical.com trigger kit which will bring your pull down a bit and the trigger itself is nice.
I opted for the Volquartsen kit. It's a little more expensive but gave me an under 2 pound trigger on both of my Mark IVs.

Volq video
There’s a good YouTube video by a fellow who walks you through it. Your first time it may take an hour. After that, 30-45 min. I have done two Mk IVs, both turned out great.

Yes: The Ruger stock trigger/disconnector/sear/hammer arrangement breaks in very nicely after several hundred rounds and gets better with use. My Mks II and III each have north of 10,000 rounds, and I couldn't ask for nicer triggers. And to install your own trigger stop, if you'd like, is a simple task of installing one in your trigger using a set screw.
