Default Alfa Proj,Check made 357/38 Revolver

I was looking for magazines for my VZ-58/VZ-2008 rifle today. In the course of my web search I stumbled on the Checkpoint site, they are the current importer of the VZ-58 Check made rifle.
While searching their site I ran across a line of Check made revolvers. Offered in 4 and 6 inch barrel from a company called Alfa Proj. The calibers available were 22, 32, 9 mm, 38 Cal only and 357.

The 357 was offered with fixed sights as well as an adjustable sight version. Price was $440.00 to $471.00 with a hot blue finish and rubber finger groove style grips. They are referred to as the 3500 collection.

Czechpoint - Products - Revolvers

They have the full under barrel lug and look somewhat like the S&W 586.The back of the frame seems longer, but it could be the way the grips fit the frame.

Since I am an admirer of Check made guns as well as revolvers in general,
I was wondering if:

Anyone here owned, shot, or looked at one of these?
What was your impression of quality?

Don't know anything about Alfa Proj revolvers. I have a 38 special revolver, marketed by Mauser but made by Kora in the Czech Republic. It is very well made and fitted, but I think the alloy frame wouldn't stand up to any 357s and not many +Ps. Nevertheless it is very accurate with wacutters. You can see it at the Kora website, www.korabrno.cz/#. I'd sure like to have one of their 22 revolving rifles; what a great plinker!

I recently bought the .32SWL version for under $300 and was very pleased!
Accuracy is simply amazing!
Quality of construction is good with all bits and pieces fitting together nicely .
Design is fundamentally Smith & Wesson-ish but with multi-function machined parts being replaced by combinations of component parts.
Trigger pull runs about 4-4 1/2 lbs in single action with some noticeable pre-takeup but then releasing cleanly. Double action is on the heavy side with significant stacking.
Adjustable sights are positive and repeatable with movement-per-click being a bit more than a S&W sight.
Sight picture has a narrower blade and corresponding notch than S&W but It works well and I actually sort of like it.
I don't yet have any feel for durability as the frame is alloy rather than steel but am not overly concerned with the .32SWL cartridge. It is definitely NOT pot-metal-ish and even S&W plays the alloy game so only time will tell.

Why did I buy it?
Where else could I pick up a decent quality .32SWL shooter with adjustable sight, decent cosmetics and design for $285?

I'm almost sure that Alpha used to make a .38 that resembled the Colt Official Police. Saw photos years ago. That was when CZ was still a Combloc country.

.32 SWL was purchased from Reed's Ammunition and Research in Oklahoma City. Website is www.ReedsAmmo.com and phone number is (405) 691-2441.
Ron Reed is a highly knowledgeable guy and great to work with. He is currently the US importer of AlfaProj and the complete line is shown on his website.
I plan to buy a few more from him as his inventory catches up.
I cannot relate to any of the other past companies that used the "Alfa" label but think that AlfaProj is in Brno and probably not related to any of the Spanish or other offbeat makers.

Texas Star,
thank you, I plan on ordering the 4 or 6 in 357 and or the 22.I need to think over the barrel length, normally I prefer the 6 inch but these look good to me in the 4 inch. What barrel length did you go with/
How do you like the 32, I never had one but hear good things.

I have the 4 inch .32 just because it was available. Having said that, I probably would buy it again even if all other barrel lengths were on hand.

I've got a bunch of S&W's in all of the other conventional/traditional calibers but have always had a soft spot for the little .32SWL...
it's a dream to plink with and, in the right gun, seems to have an inherent accuracy that defies logic.
With a good wadcutter load, I can shoot dime-sized target paster dots at 7 yards with boring regularity...1 1/2 inch groups at 50FT (the maximum length of my closest indoor range) are also common.

I guess my real attachment to this caliber is that it puts a lot of FUN back into my range sessions.
