Default $2000.00+ AR15's...

I suspect this nonsense is now over with no BAN in
the near future.
Maybe the gun world will get back to normal.

Thumbs down

This morning, on the way home from my doctors appointment, I stopped at my LGS. This is the only GS/range within a 50 mile radius of the small town I live in. If you are not a "good ole boy" with the owner then forget about it!
He keeps a few Bushmaster M-4's for just under $1000 in his inventory. I have seen that price rise over the last few weeks to where it is now $1999! His TulAmmo 9mm ammo was normally $9.95 a box of 50, is now $22.50!

The panic buying will continue, at least I think it will. With so many wishy washy Republicans in the House, a ban is still possible. I hope it is not and shouldn't be any bans.

Hopefully I am wrong and the panic buying dies down. I hate not being able to find even 22LR.

"Watch out what you ask for, you might get it"

Happened to me during th Panic of '08.

I bought one, not because I wanted one, I really didn't, but when they told me I couldn't have one, I wanted one. I bought a Colt LE 6920 M4 NIB for what then was a Great price. When the AWB didn't happen, they (and my 'invesrment') dropped like a rock. I never fired one single round through it, & that ugly thing was stareing at me like Freddie Kruger every time I opened my safe.
.
It was only about 3 weeks ago that, during the panic of '12-'13, I was able to sell it for a 'small' (very small) profit. HOORAA!!!! I sold it to a friend of mine. (who I thought had better taste in guns than that) I tried to talk him out of buying it, but he was insistent. I advised him to sell it right away, and told him that if he made $2K on it, I would be happy for him, as it was no longer taking up room in my safe and I did't have to look at it anymore. (I hope we will still be friends if he keeps it & they 'drop like a rock' again) I really believe they will, but who knows.

I know EXACTLY what I missed.

I shot a Colt AR-15 Carbine Before there was ever an Assault Wepons Ban in '94. I do admit that it shot well, but I could never get past the UGLY-UGLY-UGLY. Sorry, I'm just always more impressed with Machined Steel & Walnut than Stamped Metal & Plastic. I have No problem with people who like them & I DO NOT want to see an AWB past.

I don't know who said it first, but I think they said it best when they said. "Lifes Too Short To Go Through It With An Ugjy Gun."

But as I say, To Each His Own !!

possible bans and restrictions are still on the horizon and existing stocks are low so i don't see prices coming down.

This reminds me of back in 2005 when congress re wrote the bankruptcy code ostensibly to make it harder for people to file a chapter 7 and instead pushing them into chapter 13's. I, as did every other lawyer in the area, filed about two years worth of chapter 7's in the month leading up to the law's enactment. The next bankruptcy (chapter 7 or 13) I filed was 11 months later and for that year I filed 4 ( I usually file between 15 & 30 a year). We (the lawyers) made out like bandits in the "gold rush" on the bankruptcies but paid for it over the next 18 months until it leveled out. That is what is going to happen here. There is going ot be such a glut of guns when the pipeline catches up that it ain't gonna be funny. In the mean time, the stores will have no inventory, nor will they have customers to sell it to.

I went to Lafayette Shooters, looked around and gave thanks to the Almighty for my "meager" collection I actually felt sorry for some of the people in the store looking over the picked over remnants of the inventory-I wonder who is going to pay $6,500 for that nice Cooper Arms in .340 Weatherby or the few $1200 dollar super revolvers they have left, or have to make that decision whether to go Rossi or Charter Arms for that last .38???

There is all the more reason to panic buy now.

Who knows what Congress will do?
AND AR production at most if not all manufactures are back ordered months if not years.

My prediction is the AWB will not be enacted and all this panic buying will be for naught. Prices on these will drop like a rock and lot of people will lose there shirts on their purchases. The 10 round magazine thing MAY come to pass.

I was out looking today. Only one shop had a variety of AR's, the least expensive being the Bushmaster XM15E2s A3 for $1,699.99.

I also witnessed several dozen citizens purchase guns. Over half of them were elderly couples, senior citizens, buying two guns per couple. It was awakening, to say the least.

Last Colt in the LGS here went for almost 4K as two customers got into a bidding duel for it.
Happily, no shots were fired!
