When black rifles are selling hot...Marlin lever action inside.
When black rifles are hot, it's an even better time to find lever actions. Picked up a Marlin 39a golden for $300.00 two weeks ago. Since I already own one, this one will be my son's when he gets a little older. Had a couple very tiny spots of rust on the barrel, worst one pictured and had to get into the bluing a little bit to get it out in this spot. Serial number dates it 1979, so pre cross bolt safety. Only thing missing is the little white bung in the stock. Any one making or reproducing them?
Everyone else can keep their black rifles, I will take one of these any day.
Kevin

I think you can buy black synthetic stocks for M-336s. Not sure about M-39s.

You talking about the little Marlin target that is inlayed into the stock?
I could use one of those too, as I have a gun that the former owner thought that was the place to drill out for the sling swivel.
Aha! thanks Google and Labworm... http://www.brownells.com/rifle-parts...-prod8623.aspx

I just got the little Marlin bullseye because I noticed mine had come out. You would think I would have noticed it since I have had it about 31 or so years. Called Marlin, cost was $2.00 for the part and $6.95 to ship it.

Nice gun at a nice price. I picked mine up last year and couldn't be happier. Wishing I had picked up more 30/30 ammo.......

Your are very fortunate. I have been posting, here and elsewhere for an early Marlin 39A Golden for along time, to no avail.

My grab and go kit. Both in .357. The Marlin has the Wild West Guns big loop and trigger kit. Fiber on the front sight with cutaway shroud. Skinner express ghost ring on the rear.
Of course the Pre-27 with a 6.5" barrel as the companion isn't bad either

The Marlin bulls eye is only on walnut stock rifles. Many owners use these as points to drill to install swivels. You can order the replacement bulls eye from marlin owners forum in Marlin Firearms Forum
Easy to replace.

I managed to pick up three Marlins and a Winchester, 3 .22's and a .45 Colt, in the last year and a half. I couldn't be happier.

Seriously, you want the white spacer for the buttplate? Take off the buttplate, get an empty clorox bottle, slice it open, spread it out, put the buttplate down on it, trace around it, cut it out.
That's what I did to this Remington 22, 40 years ago.

Congrats on a great gun. We have an estimated 10,000 rounds through our 39A made in the 50's. Still looks new and shoots like a dream. This week picked up a 1894CB in 32 H&R Magnum. These are just plain fun, functional guns meant to last.

I picked up my first Marlin last week. A 336w 30-30. I love it and want a 39A also. Plus a 1894 in 357 is on my want list but man, the prices are crazy. I looked at 4 different 39A 22s at a gun show last week and you couldnt touch one for $600. I did find a 45-70 cowboy but he wanted $880 for it. Wasnt looking for a 45-70 but man..... thats pricey. Forget the 357 unless you have a $1000, and thats if you can find one.
Local GS that I wouldnt even shop at 2 months ago ( because of their high prices) has a Browning BL22 Grade 1 for $579. Im actually thinking about getting it. With everyone elses prices going through the roof locally, this shops pretty much stayed the same. So their previous high prices now look like a deal.
Your $300 for a 39A is a dream purchase. You stole it man, congrats.

For the white spacer, see a siding contractor and get a piece of the header vinyl used over windows. It looks sort of like channel iron but in white vinyl. The exact correct thickness and does not shrink. at least mine didn't.
