Astra 38 special revolver
Hi Yall, yep, I'm an old Alabama red neck, lol. new to this forum and looking for some infmo., I have a Artra 38 spl. revolver that has been in the family for around 70 yrs. I am trying to find some history on this pistol, was told it was Spanish made and S&W bought the patent right for it. It looks just like a S&W just looking at it. Sure would appericate any help. thanks Larry. Have a great day.

Until someone pipes in - take a look at this thread: Astra 960 38 Special (11-07-2011, 12:13 PM). Also, jump over to YouTube and search: Astra 960 38 Spl for an interesting video.

Astra is well known, but now out of business. Many thought it the best of the Spanish revolvers.
No connection, ever, to S&W, to my knowledge, and it DOES NOT "look just like an S&W." Look closer at the details.
Some made long ago may look more like an S&W M&P. Their recent guns had obvious diferences, including a shorter frame and blockier hammer shape.
