New aquisition, not a S&W
I enjoy shooting large caliber handguns, .44spl/mag and .45 Colt.
I was thinking of getting into CASS and bought a matching pair of Ruger New Vaqueros about 5 years ago. I'm not finding the time be able to fully engage in the sport so thinking of selling them.
I still wanted a SAA style gun in .45 Colt and came across this Uberti Cowboy with Old West finish for a great price. I like that it is a very close replica of a Colt 1873 for less than a quarter of the price.
Looking forward to some range time.

Love it, don't have to worry too much about the finish.

Yes, I really like the look of the distressed finish.

I like it!
Do the Ubertis have the old-school SAA lockwork?

Aren't these imported SAA's required to have some kind of safety?

Nice Hogleg!
Yes, they have the original Colt style lockwork. Supposedly the later model Ubertis have parts that are interchangeable with 2nd Generation Colt S/As
The "safety" on the imported Ubertis is an extra-long cylinder base pin. It is easily ground down to "create" the proper image.
But that's not necessary go to www.vitgunparts.com and you will find all the parts you need.
Do not "fan" it, the lockwork will break. A "fanner" requires special parts.
YOU just HAVE to have some fancy grips. Go to www.buffalobrothers.com and check out their grips! You can get their "aged ivories/stags to match the finish.
The 4 3/4 inch and 5 1/2 inch Colt and Colt clone S/As are to me, the most "pointable" handguns I have ever had for point shooting. As a matter of fact I consider them the best handling handguns of ANY I have ever seen.
They are not fast to reload but they can easily carry cartridges (.44 Special/.45 Colt) that are more powerful, even in factory loads, than any .357 Magnum.
