I was pawnshopping last week and spied a very clean Marlin 9mm carbine in the rack for $299.
Took it home and will either keep it or use it for trading stock.
Seems like it might be a fun gun, uses model 59 mags, right?
Have any of you chronographed these? I would think they would give the round another 100fps, at least.
How accurate are these and of those of you that own them, are they keepers?

I had one in 9mm.Nice little rifle but too darned heavy.I sold it about 5 years ago and now I wished I still had it.If I did I probably would get a plastic stock to try to reduce the weight.

That's a pretty good price for one of those. They suddenly got popular a little while back and prices went stupid. I have a Hi-Point 995 to scratch my 9mm carbine itch.

Sir, as has been noted, that's a very good price these days. Yes, the 9mm Camp Carbines take S&W Model 59 series magazines. A buddy of mine has one, neat little gun. We haven't chronographed it, but his is more than capable of "minute of pop can" out to 50 yards.

The factory urethane-type recoil buffers tend to fail, so you'll want to replace that with the aftermarket blue silicone type. It's not hard to do.

The Camp 9's in my family shoot just fine. I believe that barrel length adds about 300 fps. If I remember the magazines are for a 69, but 59's work also. Dad still has his, I sold mine a long time ago, but still have my camp 45. I put Tasco 42mm red dot scopes on both and love the results. Dads 9 is zeroed at 65 yards with 115 Silvertips, my 45 is zeroed at 50 yards with 230 Hydroshoks. Both are set up with sholder slings and mag pouches like M-1 carbines, that slide on the butt stick. Both the 9's and the 45's tend to be very accurate, sub-one-inch groups at 25 yards are common with decent ammo, and scoped guns can shade that. Don't run it too hard and it should give you many years of good service.
