Default Some Guns Just Say "Shooter"

Now that you mention it, it does take a good bit of handling to wear the rubber checking down on those CZ grips....

You sure about that? My understanding has been for a long time that the DOD did not order, buy, or take delivery on new 1911s after the end of WW II until they had so much trouble customizing the old beaters for a few very special folks starting in the mid-90s. (And the ones they have gotten since then are not all that much like the old GM pattern pistols.)
