Default Colt Woodsman. Mfd: 1928

So today I picked up a Colt woodsman 1st Issue made in 1928. That is the original finish and grips. I also got the original box, but I haven't photographed it yet. $750.00. Very excited.

Small targets are easy to hit with a Colt Woodsman. A very naturally pointing and comfortable pistol to shoot. Nice score.

i like Woodsmans and yours looks like its in very nice shape. The box makes it better. When you shoot it I'll bet that its very accurate. Be sure to use standard velocity cartridges.

Conrats! I envy your having the box. That alone might be worth $100.00

Enjoy.

I shot bullseye matches for years with a colt Challenger which looks just like your woodsman except plastic grips. Great shooting gun. I still have it and use it for frog hunting.

Yes standard velocity is what it was made for. High speed stuff slams the slide.

Great gun! Enjoy.

I have a couple boxes of sub-sonic 22LR. I also own a Browning Buckmark which is my "plinking" pistol. I'll probably just shoot the Woodsman once in a blue moon.

I have used a 1933 model for decades now and is the most natural pointing gun I ever owned. I have shot 3 flying birds in 7 attempts with this gun. In fact the first time I ever pulled the trigger on this, I shot a flying raven from a moving jeep. I can tell this story now that the statute of limitation has expired. I used my Colt Woodsman while I was an big game guide as this was the only legal gun I could carry. With it approximately 10 deer or elk were finished off every year with this Woodsman. Another John Browning masterpiece.
