Default ruger 44 range report...glad i traded off that 19

hello all, got a chance to run the old 44 vaquero at a fun match this weekend used it in two stages and short stroked it once both stages i put it away and used my regular piece . that was the first 10 rounds i had ever fired with this gun. in hind sight a little practice might have helped...
monday evening i set up a stage for members that want to drop in and shoot cowboy . the rifle targets at 30 yds , revolver targets at 15yds . this group was shot on a rifle target offhand with 240 gr. lswc with 6.8 gr of 231 the gun shoots about 3" low and 3" left or maybe i do haha but at any rate im pretty happy with the trade i made . with 200 gr lrn 7.7 gr 231 its wild shoots a foot low and a group like buck shot .guess it dont want those light ones?
i also saw poor accuracy with 240 gr.sjhp american eagle, but i was trying to show off at 40 yds with a new gun so maybe i should revisit that at 25-30 yds where i feel more comfortable

Default A good shooter.....

..... is a good shooter and that's a good shooter. What I don't understand is what made the 19 a not so good shooter.

The 19 couldn't have been worse than 3" low and 3" left...........could it?

Those big lead weights in a fairly large cyl can make a nice round group.

Without spending too much time,it would be interesting to see how differing loads, impact p.o.a.

Very nice shooting, some of the best groups I've ever shot were out of fixed site guns with tuned loads.Best of luck.

the 19 couldnt bring the groups in tight enough to know for sure. it was pretty inconsistant with me holding it, new owner may do better.
i can regulate the rugers' sights when ive found the best load.
