Default Colt Officers Model

I put a Colt 22lr on lay-away today. How did I do? Price #550.00

It is a 1941 Colt Officers Model 22 long rifle. six rounds, 6 inch barrel, I believe original grips [w/small chip] Serial #CSP29xx

My guess is that it is 95-98% One chip on the grim, light cylinder drag line and some wear marks near the crown. I don't think it was ever holstered. It could have been used in a ninety round competition called a Bulls Eye. Three different caliber revolvers. I don't of course know for sure. There is a brother revolver in .38 cal for sale in the same case.

The lock up puts my Rough Rider and H&R 539 to shame. Those two will be up on Armslist soon.

The photo is from Google Images.

Those are very fine revolvers, and for the condition you describe I'd say you did well on price. I won one exactly like that on Gunbroker a few months back and it's becoming one of my favorite shooters.
The serial number doesn't look right, though.
If you open the cylinder the number should be on the crane and on the frame. There may be inspectors stamps above or below the number, but the number itself should not have letters in it.
If the 38 is near the same condition and price that would make a nice set.

You will like it very much. They all were hand worked at the factory. They are a bit heavy but are great range guns. The .38 would be a great companion piece and .38's aren't worth as much as .22's. I have a .38 vintage about 1940 and i looked for a companion .22. I finally bought a Colt Trooper .22. I do have a Colt OMT .22 now but it was made in 1968 and never fired. I doubt I will shoot it.

Hi:
In the 1950-1970 era of "Bullseye Matches" the Revolver was "King".
A fellow shooter used Colt Officer Model Match Revolver in .22 and .38.
His .45 was a accuritzed (sic) M1911.
