Favorite Non S & W Handgun?
Hello all:
I would like to know what some of you might not want to tell--but I hope you will--what is your favorite non-S & W handgun?
Mine just now are two:
1. Taurus 738 TCP 380, it is my primary EDC.
2. Ruger LCR 357 revolver, is it my secondary EDC.
Let me hear from you really soon.
This may need to be put on another thread, please feel free if that is the case.
"My two cents worth!"

For an auto, my favorite above all others including S&W is a Colt Commander in .45acp.
In revolvers, the Colt Detective Special.

Colt 1911 Combat Elite. It was a gift from my wife for my 25th anniversary.
For plinking, I really like my Sig P226 9mm.

My Les Baer 10mm Heavyweight Monolith. It is a "one of a kind" built to my specs including the 1.5" 50 yrd guarantee. I love the gun and it is a lot of fun to shoot.

Difficult question.
Would it be Kermit, my green-teflon-coated Springfield 1911?
Might be Sallie, the 1903 Colt 32.
Could be the stainless Bisley 45 (for some reason I like the stainless one better than the blue one)
But then, I really really like the Webley Mark VI.
As I said - difficult.

My favorite is an off brand 1911, called a Soaring Eagle. I've never heard of it before, or since. But I got an Ed Brown Match Grade barrel, crimson trace laser grips, Novak sights, and 3 chip McCormick mags for $400. Did I mention that it's in my favorite defensive caliber, 10mm? It was in the local shop about two hours total. I missed the call from my friend that was working as I was walking in the door.

It'd be a toss up between a Colt 1903 or my modified Ruger MKII.

For a wheel gun, hands down, it's going to be this one...a Ruger Blackhawk in .45 Colt.
For a semi-auto, I've gotta go with the tried and true Model 1911 in .45 ACP.

Tough choice but I guess it'd have to be my Glock-36. Hides and rides great any old way you want to wear it. Accurate right outta the box in spite of it's short sight radius. Though an my mother in laws meat loaf, Goes bang every time. .45 acp.
No it ain't purty but if I dress it in some good leather it don't look too bad.

For a brand name, if it's not S&W, it has to be Colt... But Ruger and Sig can't be far behind. Glock is in there too...

Ed Brown (1911) Kobra (Government size) and Kobra Carry (Commander size) both in 45 ACP.
Above all my favorite and my carry is a S&W n frame in 44 mag or spl. If there are more than six, I will reload.

Other than a S&W, my favorite gun is one I don't currently own...and in fact, haven't owned yet. It's the Ruger SR1911CMD (the commander size 1911.) I have had the SR1911, and love it. I will have the commander size someday.
I am also very interested in the LCRx, with the external hammer. I'd want it in .357, though.

Peter-
Why is it that so many guys like those triggers that look like termites have bored holes in them?!
I'm very fond of the Colt Govt. Model .45, the CZ-75B, and the Beretta M-92FS.
But if I reach for a gun other than an S&W revolver, most times, it's either a Ruger GP-100 with four-inch bbl. or their SP-101 with a barrel a whisker over three inches. Both are stainless, like my current S&W's. I might well favor my Beretta if I expected multiple opponents while having only a handgun.
BTW, I don't load .357 ammo for indoors use. The better .38 Plus P stuff is loud enough and will probably get the job done. In cougar or bear country, I'd darned sure load .357's.The 9mm business load is Speer's 124 grain Gold Dot Plus P.

Don't have mine anymore--sold it during a bout of financial anemia. It was a lovely pre-B CZ75. Wonderful to look at and shoot.

Les Baer 5" 1911, if it would be a new one I'd pick the UTC without front slide serrations. I've owned a few his guns over the years, currently without, hope to one day have another.

I like Smith's 1911's better than any Colt I've owned, yes that includes Series 70 Gold Cups.
A non Smith, well it would be a Ruger, ain't sure which I'd choose? The 3 screw Blackhawk, a MKII 22, or a Super Redhawk in .454 Casull.
