April '81 Model 63 + Al Mar Hawk
The Hawk was given to me by Al Mar at the 1992 S.O.F. Convention in Las Vegas. This was just a few months before Al died. R.I.P.

DRYHEAT:
I keep going back to look at your post of this gun/knife combo. The grips are beautiful, the SS steel would be a perfect choice of what I consider a great field carry revolver. The Al Mar knife would be a good choice to carry and use with it. I consider this combo., one of the nicest, I've seen. I just had to compliment you on it. I'm too old to collect anymore, but if I were still collecting, a Mod.63 like the one you show, and an Al Mar knife, would be at the top of my lists. Here is a picture of my blue steel version.

Thanks for the kind words chubbo.
Your cased 4" Mod. 34 is fantastic. In fact the Mod. 63 in my photo is the end result of trying to find a 2" Mod. 34.
The very first handgun I ever bought was a 2" 34 back in 1961. Meier & Frank department store in Portland, OR had a great sporting goods dept. on their 6th floor. My dad and I bought all our bird hunting gear there over the years. One year we were going to Madras, OR to hunt doves and I thought I needed a "snake gun"... a .22 revolver loaded with snake shot!
Skip ahead many years and the little pistol was sold (or traded) and forgotten. When I turned 60 I decided to relive my youth and "needed" to get my first handgun back. The only gun even close was a nickel 2" 34, nice but NOT "my" gun. Sold that to a very nice local LEO.
Almost 10 years go by and I find this 4" 63 for $419 OTD @ a LGS. Found those target stocks 2 months later at a small local gun show for $30.
About a year after that I found a smooth J-frame Target set at the same venue:
I gave up looking for my youth and enjoy shooting this .22 with my 10 y.o. grandson. Youth found @ 70!

Bill:
A few years ago, when my little Min Pin dog Rosie was still living, and although, blind, was still an avid Shrew hunter, I decided that I just had to have a Mod. 34 2" to carry on her shrew hunts. I searched for a couple of years, before finding one at the local Cabella's. I paid more than I wanted to, but bought it anyway, I Then procedded to "Dude It Up" by installing a red front sight inset, a WO rear sight blade, a 3/8" wide smooth trigger etc. I then cobbled up a nylon case for it. Well, I lost my little Min Pin Rosie, the "Shrew Hunter" but still have the "Shrew Hunting" Kit. Here is a Picture.

Very cool 34 chubbo. Mine never was that fine, just completely stock. It's a sad reality that our beloved furry family members don't last as long as our firearms.
After 31 years we have a dog in our house again. We are taking care of him while our neighbor deals with his wife's serious medical issue in WI.

I like my S&W 4006 and it works well in this Lawrence model 22 IWB holster. The big knife looks better than than it actually is.

Some of what I put together.
First off, I just buy the pieces and cut out and fit the handles. Then stain and finish and assemble. I dont use any power tools either. Just a saw and files and sandpaper. The only power tool is my drill. A few of the blades are rust blued also. Nothing to fancy but they are sharp.
There's 2 walnut handles and the rest are curly maple.

Thanks
Bill:
Thanks, for the compliments. I'v made many, presentation cases of wood. I started making them for hand guns, that had their factory made boxes carelessly thrown away. It's been many years ago, since arthritis, diminishing eyesight, and all of the maladies, that have beset me since reaching the age of eighty seven, have kept me from making those wood cases. My dear wife, the same age as Me, and I, are trying to keep active, by celebrating our sixty seventh wedding anniversary, this evening, alone, at a local Bar & grill. Pardon the long winded story, and Thanks for sharing.

First, congratulations chubbo to both of you! Here's wishes for many more.
The Kershaw Shuffle II is a good, useful EDC blade. One of its best points is its ~$17 delivered price tag. If lost or confiscated (e.g. TSA) you won't get as worked up as you would if the same thing happened to your Chris Reeve!
And chubbo I know many more are possible as I have an uncle in Peoria that will turn 106 on Sept. 2!

I'm another one who admires chubbo's great handcrafted display cases, as well as his nice collection of guns and knives!!
Congratulations on you anniversary, Chubbo, and keep showing your wonderful cases!!
I just found this thread, and there are some awesome photos of awesome guns and knives here!! I thought I'd show a set that are always packed in my "kit bag" ready to go anywhere I go (as long as I'm nit flying!!). But I rarely fly anymore, so I like to keep these two with me....although, if I'm going to camp, for example, I'll probably be packing more choices along... Anyway, I keep a couple of boxes of .22 LR and these...just pulled them out and shot this photo:
S&W model 63, and a Puma "Hunter's Friend".
Best Regards, Les

A Colt 1903 .32 ACP, shown with grips that I made, using aforementioned fiddle backed maple wood, and an old, J. A. Henckles knife. Needs wood case, but I can't make 'em anymore.
