Eye Of The Beholder: SM 1911
I realize "beauty is in the eye of the beholder", as well as "it's not polite to stare"....and drool in this case, but I can't stop looking at her. She's......beautiful.

It's an interesting looking pistol, that's for sure.
I looked at their website. I think I'd probably prefer the blued/"engraved" model, although the case hardened one looks good, too.
The engraving looks to be cut with a CAM, but it's hard to tell in the video or on their website. I'm not saying that's a bad thing, by the way.
Traditionalist that I am, I'd be interested in one without the ring hammer and the big beavertail and attenuated grip safety. I'm no target/competition shooter, either, so G.I. style sights would suit me just fine.
I do like the flat checkered MSH and checkered front strap. I like the solid trigger, too, but would prefer the face to be checkered.
If I had one, it'd have different grips...probably mammoth ivory or pre-72 walrus ivory.
And in the specs, I can't find anything about its firing system...is it a Series 70 type or a Series 80, I wonder.
For a gun with its features, it isn't over priced in my opinion. And it isn't over-fancied-up like some Kimber models, either.
The pistol might be worthy of a second or third look, and might be a pleasant alternative to the mega-espensive Wilson Combats and others of that ilk.

Those are made by Connecticut Shotgun Mfg Co (CSMCo), better known around the gun world for their AH Fox and Win21 SxS's plus plenty of other high grade O/U shotguns, SxS double rifles, ect.
Standard Mfg is just a side name to the CSMC company and under that they mfg the more 'modern' style firearms like a double bbl pump , the 1911, a 2/3scale(?) .22rf Thompson, a 6-shot volley fire DA pistol (fires 2 shots w/each pull of the trigger),,but yet make a very nice Colt SAA also.
MAny long time Colt employees were hired over when they were let go by Colt recently and now work at CSMC.
I saw his SAAs at a show in PA early on the summer and was very impressed. Old style lock up, As nice a fit, polish, finish as the USFA Mfg Co SAA's.
There were several of the 1911's there also but I admit I didn't look at them as i am a Colt mfg 1911 person.
Added,,The engraving on the off the shelf editions offered for sale is laser cut, not hand engraved. But it is a nice job IMO. Laser cut has come a long way in a short time,
I used to engrave for CSMC starting back in 91 when he intro'd the AH Fox. Then added the Win 21 and O/U's ect as he went along. They were all hand cut at the time. He keeps several engravers busy,
He started to use some laser cut patterns on some editions starting around 2005 or so.

I LIKE Color Case Hardened firearms
I have one of the Kimber Centennials. Doug Turnbull did the frame and it is wearing African Ivory. The engraving is machine
Turnbull Restorations also did the frames on the Smith and Wesson Heritage Series

CSMC/Standard Mfg does it's own color case hardening in their facility in New Britain. When he first started mfg the AH Fox in 91, he used Turnbull for CCH.
He set up his own case hardening about 95 at his orig plant in NewBritain and has done his own ever since. Fox, Win/CSMC21, O/Us, RBL, Parker special order for Remington, pistols, ect. Bone & charcoal.
