Rather than sending mine back to Remington I just replaced the trigger with one from Timney.... took all of about 15 minutes.

Default Remington 700

This recall starts at 2006. Did they ever recall the older models that got a lot of bad press for triggers that can discharge (when you take it off safety?) ??

I believe they did. You could take your rifle to an authorized Remington serving dealer and they would clean and inspect the trigger.

Rather than remove scopes for shipping and risk loss/breakage I too have decided to replace my triggers. I already have a Rifle Basix trigger in one and may replace the other with the same.

Same here. Bought an LTR that had a trigger requiring a winch to pull it (Remington lawyer trigger). About 75.00 and 15 minutes fixed it.

Trigger problems on Remington 700/7's? Been shooting Remington 700's of all sorts new and used since 1980. Some were very early 700's. Never had a single issue with a trigger. All were easily adjustable using just a bit of common sense. Hard to see how anyone could mess one up, beyond to much turning of the screws. Never known any who ever had a problem w/ a Remington 700 trigger. Been a member of several hunting clubs and am currently a member of a decent sized range w/ over 200 members. Remington 700 are very popular with many of the men for deer hunting, etc. Have not heard of a single issue experienced by anyone with the triggers. So... looks like Remington would be better off just to go back to the trigger that always worked so very well and ditch the supposed improvement. Now, I could be wrong. This is after all JMHO rendered on a Monday morning when I have the day off... and have just finished the second of two very large mugs of wonderful hot coffee. But, I am fully awake. I am not in pain like yesterday afternoon. And if all goes well, I will finish a couple of reports by noon. So, maybe I am... right. Sincerely. brucev.

May I request you add the model number for the recall to your title.

I also did not want to remove my scope and ship. I purchased a trigger direct from Timney. If purchased direct from them they will tune it to your desired pull weight. $140 IIRC.

I liked the trigger on my 700 SPS. But I sent it back to Remington anyway. They've had it since 5/18. No telling how long they'll have it.

I had one of the 700 CDL in 35 Whelen with a bad trigger and I replaced it with a Timmy trigger and all was good except for the expense I shouldn't have had to make.
