My Manurhin MR73 Sport...
Its certainly one of the best 357mags ever produced. They were extremely strong and very accurate.
The MR73 features a roller bearing trigger that's adjustable for both DA and SA pulls. Manurhin guaranteed the very dense cylinder to be free from damage or bulging even from 357mag ammo of double the SAAMI pressure standard.
The barrel is are cold hammered and rifling is formed during forging, resulting in an incredibly smooth, hard inner barrel surface.
As much as I'm a fan of American revolvers, especially vintage Smith & Wessons, the MR73 is just one of the finest and strongest ever produced at any price. It may be my single favorite revolver. I'm hard pressed to think of another wheelgun that combines brute strength and finesse like the MR73. Many hours of hand fitting were put into each one. The bluing is as good as any I've ever seen.
Please enjoy the pics. This is a Sport model with a 6" barrel and target sights. Its an early example dating from the early to mid 1970's...

Lovely gun. I missed the boat on buying Manurhins and Dan Wessons. At one time you could barely give them away. Then word got around how good they were and it was game over.

Thanks Larry
Its an awesome shooter. I've had it to the range a few times. I bought it a couple years back from a enthusiast of the finest European handguns.

Wondering if the police spec F1 in a 4" is the same quality gun as the MR 73? Local lgs has one. Did the same hand fitting go into the cheaper model? Thanks, Larry

Larry, that is basically an MR88, which was built in France under Ruger license. Its basically a French Ruger of sorts. You can certauinly see the Ruger design in the styling.
Its a solid revolver, but nothing special. Its certainly not an MR73.

The MR73 is the top of the Manurhin line. The MR88 and the Gendarmerie version is a hybrid based on the Ruger Speed Six. Ruger originally made "kits" for completion in France, and then Manurhin began manufacturing its own version.
Manurhin no longer makes revolvers, however, the revolver business having been acquired by Chapuis Arms of Saint Bonnet le Chateau, France.

Can you get a photo? Like to see one. I've see poor pics in the past.
I think the MR-88/F-1 had a sideplate, which the parent Ruger doesn't.

I saw a Manurhin recently. It had a 4" barrel, not much bluing, some rust and Pac's. It looked like a truck gun. Still had a smooth action. $750.00!

Found a 4" Manurhin with adjustable sights on it, it's not a sport. Hope I shoot it soon. There isn't much wear around the firing pin so I don't think it was shot a lot. Has a new set of rubber grips, the wood ones are worn but available new from Numrich. Will try to get pics tomorrow, Larry

Everyone, just remember that not all Manurhin revolvers are MR 73's, There are some F1 models on Gunbroker right now. Those are the cast Ruger-designed MR88s. Big difference.

Here's some pics of the 4" MR 73 with adjustable sights. It has new rubber grips and the old wood ones included. Shot it today and I'm very happy with it. Need to bench it somehow, it seemed to shoot better with the 357 rounds then with the 38 hand-loads. Anyone know a link on how to balance or adjust the 2 screws? Larry

Nice gun, Larry!
Those Trausch grips are huge but very comfortable. I have a set of Trausch grips for a Ruger SP101.
Basically the upper screw is for the trigger return spring and the lower one for the hammer spring. They are balanced when the gun works to your liking.
