Is Stevens Still in Business?
An Internet acquaintance has an old Stevens single-shot shotgun, gauge unknown. I've told her to look for lettering on the gun that tells which shells it takes. Was the lady's late grandfather's.
Is Stevens still in business? I know that Savage bought the name decades ago, but don't know if they still use it.
I have one of those gun guides that Larry Koller used to publish, from the early 1960's, and it pictures some Stevens products. I haven't seen any in years, but haven't been looking, either.

Yes, they are part of the Savage brand line along with Stoeger, and therefore whatever other company owns them. I think you mostly see the name on pump action defense shotguns but they have a new over-under as well:
Savage Arms

Stoeger is a benelli owned company
Stevens name is still used by savage for their lower end budget minded guns. Not often.

Last Stevens I saw was a 311 SxS. Don't think they make them any more.

I've owned a couple of 311's in 20 gauge. Good gun for the money--took tons of game for me, especially doves. A good used one is a real buy.

Stevens itself was bought by Savage in 1920. The ChicopeeFalls, Stevens factory remained pretty much unchanged except it was under Savage Arms ownership.
Savage continued the Stevens line of firearms for the most part and since Savage owned the name could use it on new offerings or as a alternate brand name.
Savage moved their Utica,NY factory to the ChicopeeFalls,MA Stevens facility at one point (mid 1930's), leaving Utica for good.
Then everything to Westfield,MA later.
