Default Benchmade 586-1401 Mini-Barrage Limited

I picked up this Limited Edition Mini-Barrage 586-1401 produced for the 2014 SHOT Show. The assist mechanism is incredibly strong. You need a good grip when you open the blade. It is built like a tank with excellent looks. This has the smallest blade on any AXIS lock BM I own but it fills a nice niche.

•2014 SHOT Show Special
•Patented Axis-Assist lock mechanism
•Premium M390 (HRC 60-62) blade steel
•Black anodized aluminum bolsters with green/black G10 handle scales
•Black oxide hardware and split arrow reversible pocket clip, 750 Piece Limited Edition

That's a beauty. By coincidence I picked up a standard 581 today at Sportsmans Warehouse. It's my first BM with an axis assisted lock, all others have been manual axis or nitrous assisted. Been playing with it all afternoon and it's pretty sweet. Kind of a cross between my Subrosa and one of my Rukus.

Good looking knife. I considered a mini Barrage but ended up with a Ritter Mini Griptilian. I have a Kershaw Blur in OD that is assisted. I like it a lot.

That is a nice knife. I have a 585 Mini Barrage, and it is one of my favorites, although I would rather not have the black blade. The Axis locks open so quickly and easily that I don't know if the assist is really necessary, but it sure is neat.

Nice knife with great blade steel, I have one but removed the assist spring. The knife is so smooth you really don't need the help of the assist spring.
