After many years of firearms ownership, I recently bought my first 1911. It was a 9mm and one of the reasons I got it. Not because I think 9mm is better, worse, cheaper, etc. than 45 - I just didn't want yet another caliber to deal with. Also, it is a Citadel made by Armscor. While Armscor is normally considered lower tier, I've read many satisfied reviews by their owners. Finally and most importantly, Academy had it on sale for $170 off at $329.99 before tax. It came with two magazines and the fit and finish was very good, at least on the one I got. So far, I'm very happy with it and it's been 100% in over 300 rounds. It is making a great plinking, range, general use gun and I'm not relying on it for anything else - I have M&Ps for that.
All that said, if I wasn't concerned about having an additional caliber ammo to buy and I could have found a 45 at what I considered the same kind of value... I'd have gotten it. A 45 some day??? Maybe, just not now.
