Default Refurbed an old friend

15-20 years ago I built a knife from parts, it has a 8" Solingen 440c stainless full tang blade and Sambar stag grip and was my main hunting/camp knife for a very long time. It's a was great chopper and slicer, but because it had been used so much it got to the point were it needed to have the blade completely re-profiled so it would take an edge. I was just too lazy to do the work needed so it has been sitting in the safe for the last few years.

As of late I have been rehabbing and re-profiling a bunch of axes and hatchets so I finally got up the gumption to take my files to my trusty old Bowie and cut the flats down to the edge. While I was at it I knocked off the clip point and re-cut the false edge. After 2 hours with some files and an emery board the flats met at the edge, then a quick buff and a couple of strokes on and Arkansas hard she's back to razor sharp and ready to serve for a few more years. I gave her a test run and she hacked trough a 1x2 in 3 strokes and was cleanly slicing through 1/2 +- branches in a single stroke.

C'mon guy's, it's not that big. It only has an 8" blade, the same overall size as a USMC KaBar. Dundee's Bowie was a good 4 inches longer.
